Hey guys, me again, got the girl back together and shes looking good but my clutch doesn't work :(

I've bled it multiple times, made sure there's no air in the banjo but still nothing. Lever is nice and firm and feels like it should but I get no clutch action, bike stalls as soon as I put it in first.

Gonna try bleeding it with the clutch slave piston clamped in tomorrow but until then please give me any and all advice you might have.

    Cheers

Did you have the slave cylinder assembly off? The piston can develop corrosion, and if you've tweaked it past the range where it was normally living, you could have toasted the seal. I went through this on a 86. Handle pressure felt good, couldn't figure it out until I removed the slave cylinder and there was just a film of oil, not an obvious leak. Replaced piston and seal.

I Initially did it on the bike then took it off when it didn't work, I'll check the seals tomorrow although the action seems fine when I operate it off the bike, piston moves in and out normally.

Does the piston move when you put pressure on the piston and activate the lever? Is the pushrod still in place?

I never liked re-building the slave cylinders on these bike, they always screwed up on me. I buy a new slave cylinder and call it a day. Have done it on some other bikes that I did not own, anything I own, I tend to go the extra mile on. Not a big deal imho :mech:

Problem solved, clutch plates were stuck together. Revved the bike in first with the clutch in then slammed on the rear brake, repeated until the bike no longer stalled when the rear wheel was stopped with the clutch in.

I have a small 2 stroke race bike that does'nt get ridden enough. When ever I take it on a ride around the neighborhood, I put the bike into first gear with the ignition switch/petcock off, and I rock the bike back in forth until the rear wheel moves freely in first with the clutch in.

Good you got your bike going, nice looking scooter, far oot front fender! Who makes it? an Aussie company? :peace:

Picked it up from Wemoto to suit a 99 R1 thinking about wrapping the frame in carbon to match, super happy with the looks :triumphant:
