Stainless steel replacement brake pistons

    The front brake Pistons on the 8th gen have already rotted on at least 2 motorcycles, OEM pistons vary from $200-400 for 8 and they'll rot as well

    A company called Powerhouse in the UK have taken the initiative and made stainless steel replacements, $150 (£120) for 8, so the front is sorted

    As far as the rear goes, they're pretty sure they have them but want clarification of the depth of the pistons

    They're either 31mm or 33mm deep or long

    Does anyone know which it is?

    If they can supply them they'll be about $45 (£38) a pair

    They can also supply all the seals, etc

    This is unbelievable that anything on an 8th gen is failing already. Here I was thinking, "finally got rid of that linked crap and fitted radials" and its even more unreliable now lol.
    At the numbers you're talking, I would just slap some brembos on there and be done with it.

    True. But are these nonstainless pistons a new thing or has this been an issue on previous vfrs as well?

    I'm by no means super well informed, but I've been on this forum since 2012 and this is the first I've ever read about this. Not on VFRD.

    That's where it's being discussed and resolved, in the 8th Gen forum

    Lint, the degree of salt damage in this country is beyond your comprehension, Lancia made a car, the Beta, after 3 yrs it was junk from rust damage .... imagine dipping your front end into the sea for 2/3rds of December and January

    BTW it's not a Honda part, the Tokico pistons "rot like tin foil"

    Funny that you mentioned this. I have been watching some Delboy's Garage videos and this was one I just recently watched. It's about winter brake cleaning, mostly due to your road conditions.

    The UK piston problem is the same as the US K&N problem. It's common on most road bikes ridden over the winter months in the uk. Only wat to avoid is to not ride or regularly grease up the pistons ( calliper grease) and avoid pressure washers.
