I would love to know what you did with your OEM muffler if you replaced it with an aftermarket can. I can't bring myself to throw it away but I have found they are worth NOTHING on the used market.

Put it in a box in the basement. Don't ask me why.

Keep it! When I was looking for a used VFR I wanted the stock exhaust in case I didn't like the aftermarket slip-on that the previous owner had installed. If you sell it in the future, having it available may help bring top dollar.

Now you got me thinking how cool it would be to make a beer stein out of it. Could even cut a bend of a oem header and tack it to the side to make a handle.

Mines on a shelf waiting for the time a court tells me I have to have it on the bike to register it. After paying the ticket and the court hearing.
They actually have a court officer verify that it was replaced to stock. Bastards

Same here, the stock exhaust is just sitting in the Delkevic box up on a shelf in my garage in case I ever need or want to put it back to stock for whatever reason.

I think it's "alive and well" in the US and "alive and kicking" in Scotland :beguiled:

it's in a box in the garage. Here in the UK modifications like that actually reduce the worth of a bike at trade-in or re-sale so the sensible thing to do is keep the originals, revert to as close to standard as possible when you need to and sell the can/seat/screen/whatever separately. My rear fender is cleaned and boxed up for the same reason.

Attach it to a base, shine it up, drape it with LED Xmas lights and turn it into a little shrine or a sex object.

I advertised it on Craigslist for free to pick up. A guy came by a few days later and toted it off. That was about 10 years ago.

Since there is little evidence that changing just a muffler on a VFR does much else than make the bike look and sound different, the old stocker could be gutted or drilled out.

For the more adventurous Get some ABS pipe and an old tuba mouthpiece and turn one into sort of what might be called a Hondaphone. This could be a big hit at bike nights if played right.
