Yeah I always run with premium, I will be getting her professionally tuned in a little while once I've made up my mind about copying some of Mohawk's mods.

Ooo love map photos, Nice, this gets me rethinking a couple things, yet did you add O2s? I read that the 5th gen does not care for much in the way of advancement less maybe a degree or two in the mid range IDK read that some where Hope you can get to a Dyno, be great to see how it all plays out.

Nah no o2 sensor, might add one in future if I get some stainless headers. Hopefully I'll get to a dyno later this month, I'll probably post up a new thread about it then.

I have been watching the header threads with great interest, you basically replicated the 2 bros pipe right? which cylinders are linked up? In line (1+2, 3+4 linked) or crossed over (1+4, 2+3 linked)?

This is the 6th gen ignition mapping, for comparison. Seems Honda really underestimated how much timing can be added while in two valve or they just leaned it out to the limit instead.

The other thing that's interesting is rapid bike pulled a degree off the top end on the sixth gen, but added a degree to the top end on the fifth gen.

Are you running any airbox mods Candy? Apart from the Pipercross? Also how is the Pipercross? I read some study saying the flow wasn't great but it seems like the sheer surface area would make up for it. I'll try find the study.

The pipercross is a tad bit harder to fit than say a K&N, but it's not that bad. RVF said that he was having some issues fitting the filter into the base of the air box first, but when he tried to fit the filter to the top first and then the base, it went right in.

I could imagine the filter media itself on the pipercross being slightly more restrictive than kn or bmc and filtering better, but like you said, the surface area would totally negate any flow losses.

So no other airbox mods then? Might have to pick up a pipercross...

I did the normal snorkel, flapper and pair deletes, then swapped the velocity stacks out for R6 velocity stacks and port matched the stacks/air box/throttle bodies together.

Later on I over bored the throttle bodies to 38mm and port matched the heads to them. The first mod was definitely worth it, but the over bored throttle bodies was not worth the time/money/effort at this state of tune.

I don't think the factory throttle bodies are a restriction, until after adding cams/compression/overbore pistons. The factory velocity stacks definitely can be improved upon at this power level though.

6th Gen has the two short and two long stacks correct? Was that due to the Vtec or just an evolution in airbox design? I like the results of Mohawk's double stack setup but dont really want to butcher the top of my airbox at the moment. Hows the low end with the R6 stacks? guessing more top end?

The 03-05 R6 velocity stacks still retain the staggered arrangement. I think staggered is meant to spread the power over a larger area. They are just a few mm's shorter and wider than the vfr stacks, for a little less bottom end and a little more top end. [IMG]

Oh my half tank rides seem to work for me too-that 06 tank weights a ton-filled with gas -forget turning slow-otherwise down you will go, oh my carbon slip on saved almost 20 pds and my light weight battery maybe 4 pds- it still works great after 2 yrs old. carbon canister-saved 2 pds-off.
Wolf riding today and my black 06

on a sort of a side note here, FWIW. What I noticed here during the swap from k-n to the Piper was, yes there's a lot more filter area with the piper, one thing that caught my eye was the piper is also thicker, not by much, hence a slight concern that the piper may actually cover or come into close contact with the V stacks. if so, the area of filter media may be mute, as the air is drawn through a limited area. from my first impression the KN has more V stack clearance. But since i can't see the other side after installed that too could be nothing. I read Mohawk made a new lid when he added his version of V stacks. Now where'd I see that at?

That's weird, my pipercross actually curved upwards, giving the vstacks even more room to breathe than the KN.

Yeah Mohawks Yoshi stacks are pretty dope, only problem is having to butcher the airbox to get enough clearance from the air filter to fit them.

I can't help but wonder honestly how much performance of get from mods like these, I'd kinda hope the Honda engineers knew what they were doing when they designed it originally :p
