So today I went out to play with moto. For those of you who have me on Facebook, more photos there. I started off fooling around in Wichita. Saw some cool stuff like: Muffler Man and his veiny arms...look who's taller now?! Steam punk artist My favorite piece that I like to think of as a time machine. It was taller than me! I headed north for Coronado Heights. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coronado_Heights Lots of dirt. I'm really loving some black and white photos. A mountain...er...huge hill. More hills. On my way up the mountain, people hollered at me that I had the wrong moto for this. Screw you I thought. I kept going. Played around. Watched the sunset. Enjoyed a fire. Made the descent down the mountain in the dark. Kansas switchbacks are sucky. Dirt, washboards, huge jagged rocks. Got practice tho. The moon and Venus showed. Got home. So chilly. It did warm up from 30s to 40s when I entered Wichita. I smell like dirt, campfire, and muh girly self. I like it.
Here I almost felt sorry for you, thinking that winter in Kansas was Canadian like! You are doing a LOT better than most Canuck's. Yup, you ever think of getting a nice 250 dual sport. Or a DRZ400. Would be a good time of year to go on the unpaved roads at a non highway pace. I remember going up an "Improved Logging Road" on Vancouver Island, with my brother, to Cape Scott Park. Was so wash boardy and rutted I ended up turning back. Was on my CBR600F2 at the time. There is something so primal and grounding about having a fire though, don't ya think? Started doing that on some of our late season rides.
You went how far? Not too shabby. You've gone like 33,000 km's, from the time you left on your "Prince Rupert trip"! WOW.
Muh Glenn!! Sweet photos!! I don't always do fires when I moto-camp, but if I'm hanging around for a while I love to enjoy one and stare at the dancing flames. Hmm...if I encountered that on my CBR600F4, I would have turned around too. I remember turning around on the Viffer in Riding Mountain up there in Canuckistan for similar conditions...and rattles after coming close to being hit by RV in the mud. Ha ADV is calling out to me. I rode around my friend's DRZ this summer. I loved it!! Just need something bigger for touring. Like a GS... We certainly have had an odd winter. One snowfall...dusting really. Some cold days. But over the next two days temps will be reaching for 70! It seems Winter is over here.
Holy crapoly!! What a pull you just made!!!! Crazy looking at it side by side like that... Maybe I need a fund for moto replacement. Surely this moto will last at least another 5 years.
It's always good fun taking an inappropriate bike on an adventure, but you're braver than me doing it in the dark. I inadvertently took a long and winding road on my VTR, and while I was stopped to take photos two passing cars both stopped to check if I was OK. The VTR is actually alright on gravel so long your ego doesn't write cheques that your riding skills can't cash.
Great pics - I love castles. Hmmm...a fire and a castle...I bet it was an unforgettable fire. Reminds me of a song/album cover :witless:
Inspirational Miss AM, thanks for sharing. I can't wait for my rotor bolts to come in so I can get riding again!
Strikes again---puts most of us ta shame---- she definitely is a one in a million Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
She doesn't let grass grow under her does she? I agree if only AM was a bit taller I'd say get a 250 enduro . since you don't mind a little dirt to slow you down, Here's your next neighboring adventure AM http://www.kansastravel.org/monumentrocks.htm
Love this!! Waiting to ride there this weekend!! We'll see. And yes, ADV fever. I had soooo much fun that day. Imma be hooked when I can get one. Talked with a couple guys on ADVs this weekend in the Flint Hills. Fooled around on one of their motos and the visions I had running through muh mind while standing on the pegs were enough to make me wish I was on one for the day instead of Viffer. Scandalous...
Terry, beautiful photos!!!! When a road calls, it calls. I've had to pass many up, but sometimes I just can't. Viffer can pull through for us sometimes
