Looking for camera mount ideas

I have been running one of those fuel tank camera mounts with great success.. however, the need for a tank bag on an upcoming trip has had me wondering aimlessly around the bike trying to work out where I can mount it now

I am using one of the Oregon Scientific cameras but for the life of me can't find another place to mount it..

anyone got any ideas ?????

The easiest option is to fit a ram mount into the stem hole in the middle of the handlebars. Just use a knife to gently prise off the plastic cap which covers the stem hole. You can then fit a ram mount ball socket in its place, and with the correct ball mount fitted to the video camera, you should have a fair bit of flexibility to ensure the camera is suitably positioned. If you follow the fitting instructions you will find Ram mounts are extremely robust, so attachments won't come loose (my friends GPS unit remained firmly attached during a recent spill). But remember to remove anything valuable whenever you park up.

As the mount tracks with the steering, it will also follow the road better than a tank mounted camera (even if it does reveal any mid-corner steering adjustments). Finally if you also wish to carry a GPS unit on the bike, you can always install a double ram mount instead of the single to the stem.

Am I the only one with a professional camera crew following in a truck while riding ??

I've also heard of others who have made their own stem mounts using PVC pipe and other commonly found materials.

thanks, but I forgot to mention I already have a power outlet mounted in there..

have looked at the ram mount off the tank bolts, but it is slap bang in the middle of the tacho and I can't see any of it...

anyone else got any ideas ??

have you thought about a low side mount? one where the front tire and road contact in the corner of the shot.

I have a ram ball that attaches to the clutch handlebar mount. I then use a long ram arm and the ram camera mount to shoot over the windscreen.

well in the end I went "cheapbastard style"

I cut a strip of rubber from an old tube, wrapped it round the mirror stalk followed by a few wraps of electrical tape.. the ATC3K mount then goes over that and the camera clips in.. works a treat.. the rubber acts as an anti-vibration aid and it is easy to turn it on and off.. actually doen't look to bad with the mount over the rubber

No your not, I may have to let them go though..it gets expensive to feed and house them....and the video's they have taken are real boring... it's just me sitting on my bike all dressed up with a sound track from a race playing in the background...........
