10K rpms in 6th gear
Wow! What a rush!
She was still pulling pretty hard at this speed (indicated 142, but Gearing calculator says 137.9. Anyways, it's the fastest I've had her up to yet, and she was rock solid. Gotta love the Vermontobahn! ![]() |

4th gen? uh huh. Thats something that has struck me about vfr's - they feel rock solid at triple digits, kinda glued to the road. Amazing.

i pulled about 10.5 with mine the other nite. Speedo read 147 (with speedo healer) Not sure it would have done much more, but it did that fairly easily/quickly.

And I suppose they're gonna ride that 'Busa up here to Vermont? About 1,700 miles?![]() It was fun nonetheless - the blacktop was only 2 days old, too - glass smooth! Not something you get in VT very often... ![]() |

Fastest I ever did was on my FZR1000. Speedo goes to 160, and I had it well past that on a downhill with a tailwind. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.....the good ole days! The viffer, well, I think I hit 130 on her once so far. She feels pretty solid, but not as solid as the FZR...that baby was a tank!

I agree--I've had mine a fair bit into triple digits a few times and it does feel very stable. In fact, it becomes eerily tranquil at 100+ with earplugs and ducking behind the windscreen.

But back to the story. I had my 06 up to 115 indicated the other night and it just seemed like there was lots left in there. I generally don't speed like that but I don't mind playing a little game of chase the white rabbit every now and again. Vs |

Curious about speedo error.
I've watched my bike being Dyno'd and i was surprised by the tire elongation at higher speeds. stretches out. gets taller from the rim to the outside edge of the tire. so that means the circumfrence gets longer, too. Does that mean that the "optimistic" numbers indicated in the speedo at lower speeds are closer to accurate at higher speeds? inquiring minds..... |

So 137.9 roughly = 220kph = 10,000 in 6th.

My friend went by me on his V-Rod so I had to pass him...I hit 113 in fourth and it sill had some more RPM's before it hit the redline. Not too bad.

Yep been there a number of times, a really cool feeling when the road is right and the weather perfect. it's like floating really fast, pretty surreal. Now where's that V5 at?

Heh, we were doing some of that a couple weeks ago, going up to Johnson Ridge Observatory. Hiway 504 and 505 are both excellent; pavement is smooth, nice sweepers, a few switchbacks and some four and five mile straights to make things fun.

The vfr is very comfy even over a buck fourty, it is a neat feeling, but I havent hit that speed in a while. I hit ~110 every now and then, but slab speed isnt my thing anymore, im all about the corners these days.... headed to Loudon, NH for my first TrackDay on the 29th!
It is strange that the speedo could be so far off at higher speeds, you would think with an electronic system they could adjust for it...

OK. had to try for better.
150 indicated. Ran out of road and had my soft bags on. New tires are on order. The bags are off. Oil being changed. The time for second trial nears.
