Tire Recall on Pilot Power and 2CT

This came down wind from a friend of mine:

Quote: PARIS, June 15 - French tyre group Michelin said on Friday it was recalling some 68,000 motorbike tyres after finding a possible defect in their tread due to a manufacturing fault.
The company said it would recall the Pilot Power 2CT and Pilot Power 120/70 ZR 17 front motorcycle tyres. A Michelin spokeswoman said the recall would affect tyres sold in 40 countries in North America and Europe.

Shear’Ree: The appalling part is that here it is Friday, the weekend, and 1000’s of motorcyclists will be riding our highways and roadways, unaware of the recall. This is a very popular tire. Many of those motorcyclists have that tire on their bike. I am one.

I called the number Michelin listed. However, the people who answer will set up a file, but they have no information whatsoever on any existing replacement program, if there is one. The tire dealers are not even aware of this recall. Yet, Michelin decides to let this hang on one of the busiest weekends for motorcyclists.

What is Michelin thinking, especially, when you factor in the prior Firestone tire problem! And to magnify the potential danger even more, a problem with a front motorcycle tire, at any speed, on a motorcycle, is never good thing!

We need to warn the Motorcycle Community as soon as possible!

I almost got 2CT's but went with Qualifiers instead.
