Or in other words you are trying to say..."Hell no cheapass! Buy your own damn drinks!" hahaha! I'll buy you one then buddy!

Hey, are you getting a Leo Vince, or what? Nice way to shave some serious lbs from the old girl as well as improve the looks. I almost want to buy a spare R/R to just keep in my tailbag (tailbag, that I will buy soon) for such a long journey. I just hate the idea of getting stranded so far away. I did do 450+ miles in the Spring, just need to add another 200 miles to that almost! ha!

After doing the Epic Weekend, I don't think you'll have any trouble riding up here. The VFR really does touring well.

FYI, you can always push start the bike if the R/R blows. Just put it in 2nd gear and don't sit on the bike. Instead put your hands on the bars and push it and get it going a jogging pace then pop the clutch. Should start right up. After that make sure to park anywhere you can push it again.

I'm still in with relatively few restrictions on location.
My feeling will not be hurt if ya'll don't wanna come all the way up here. I have no out of pocket costs to date, so no worries.

VFRW West Cost Meetup

YES - I'm still in.

I plan to ride to Tahoe on Thursday or Friday and meet up with the group on Saturday in Reno. I don't plan to go to Susanville largely because the activities that interest me most are happening in Reno/Tahoe/Virgina City area (I'm sure Susanville is awesome and so too is drewl's hospitality).

Please respond back yes or no you still want to go ASAP. The less people that are going it seems, in turn sometimes causes others to drop plans as well. No worries if you cannot make it, we just want to know up front is all. If invities keep dropping, maybe we will look at a "possible" location change to centralize things....since all the northern folks are not coming now. I know that originally the long distance was an issue for many.

Thank ya kindly for your input!

Member drewl has been kind enough to offer up his hacienda in Susanville, CA as a meeting point for two nights of the VFRW meetup (Drewl has already notified you if you have a bed at his place, otherwise, you will need to reserve a hotel room in Susanville, or make other accomodation arrangements). After that, the plan is to head to Reno (looks like the Silver Legacy, or Circus Circus, or the El Dorado are the new picks) for 1-3 nights, and do rides on the way to Reno, and maybe around Lake Tahoe as well (see below for more details). That is relatively about half way for most Oregon/WA, and SoCal folks. I think it would be very doable for NV/Utah/Idaho & maybe even eager Northern Arizona folks. Anyone is welcome of course. Lots of nice roads around there to ride, great people to meet, beer to drink, and gorgeous scenery to take in!

Update:

check my link for motel info. Susanville Hotels.
Preliminary schedule:
Thu 8/21- ride in/hang out
Fri 8/22-easy tour maybe a lake side hang out or 2 lake tour ride
Sat 8/23-The Drewster special-bring your gear, you're gonna need it.
Sat evening cruise down to Reno-check in to repsective hotels
Sun 8/24- Reno (possible ride around Tahoe)
Mon 8/25- Reno ?? (Some folks will be departing, others staying)
Tue 8/26-ride out. C YA.

Sun and Mon have not been scheduled yet because there are amny possibilities for fun and more riding. Those of you that know the area can add input. Some early ideas are to visit Historic Virginia City(a few miles south of Reno) and a ride up to Lake Tahoe( less than an hour from Reno-best left for Monday to avoid weekend traffic).

**NOTE: Drewl has stated that he has room for 8 at his house. He has already notified you if you have a spot at his pad. If it is full already and he has stated that he has no more room (contact him for more info), here is the link for local hotels in Susanville.Susanville Hotels.

List of folks coming so far and where they are coming from (Note some of these folks will be meeting us directly in Reno)

1. Derstuka (San Diego, CA)
2. Dudealicious (Los Angeles, CA)
3. Speed (Los Angeles area, CA)
4. Silver Surfer (SF bay area, CA)

10. PAR518 (Roseville, CA)

**16. Leftcoast (Portland, OR)
**17. XXFirefighter (Lompoc, CA)

**19. DKC'sVFR & son (Riverside, CA)

Drewl has asked if we can all chip in $20 each he will take care of BBQ type foods, Beer, and breakfast fixins.

FYI folks.....You all are responsible for making your own reservations in Reno, AND Susanville as well if Drewl has not given you the green light for a bed at his place (first come, first serve). Don't forget!

I'm there, even if nobody else is. Somebody has to support the local economy.

Smile I intend to be there or be square.

I intend to drag my raggy 2nd gen 700 into Susanville, if I can't ride it into town, just to see what other Veeffer's look like and who's mug is talking behind the avatars that I have come to know, at least those that show up. I'm taking the ride regardless, but I sure would like to meet the group when I get there. I'm gonna be in Susanville regardless of whether or not I meet a bunch of VFR groupies there or not. My son may not be with me, but I'll be there regardless.

If there are other die hards who intend to head for the mountains in the weeks before indian summer kicks in, who want some company for a ride or two or more over/through the Sierra Madre, I'm volunteering. As for the Reno option, doing Reno as a gambling excursion and multi day high/drunk holds less facination for me. But doing Reno as a weird "big little western town" that offers a few free drinks along the way while you beat it out of the heat by pushing a few quarter slots in an airconditioned gamein' parlor, sounds like a reasonable one day excursion, another day touring some pretty nice scenery in the cooler sierra within an hours ride of the "big little" on some great twisting roads with some decent restaurants and some CA wines along the way sounds like a good time. Getting to make some friends with a common interest sounds good too. But If I have to ride those roads alone I can't complain if they are less crowded and I can lay my bike over slightly lower because they are. I need the practice. So I'm prepared to be happy regardless of whether there is a gathering of the clan or not. I doubt that you'd want someone my age, girth and with my maladies along for a gambling and boozing extravaganza anyway. My real reason for being there was to ride in the first place. I know that I've been wanting to do the short cut to Chino from Gold Country ever since my Brother described it to me years ago. The Shasta ride is supposed to be great too. I figure I'll need two-three or more days to make it to my Bro's place in North Cal on my way back to that SoCal Bakery I'll have left on Aug 17th. I know its a great ride everywhere. Besides, grandpa will need to get his rest at night in order to keep up with the riding he hopes to do during the daylight anyway. If you still intend to "gather" and I'm invited, just tell me when, where and how to get there. I expect the bike to make it with me on it.

I'm still in for at least one day - Sunday/Reno/Tahoe for sure... What happened to our Northern friends? Did they opt for that Washington ride/gathering??

Don't forget to contribute to the local brothels too! They need to supply their crack habit.

Still planning on going & so is my neighbor , & possibly get a few more Utards to go as well (if there wives let them ) .

Oh & the daughter is moving back in next week (with the VFR 6th Gen) & she may go as well, I thought it may be helpful to have her teach some how to drag a knee up in the Sierra's if you can ride @ her pace

Not kidding, she's that good, but I'll tell her to ride mellow, so I don't have to ride hard to catch back up to her
