Recommended touring stops along I-85 from GA to NC?

Hey all,

On August 29th, I'm going to a family event up in Kannapolis, NC and I have a basic route planned going from Dawsonville, GA going mostly on I-85.

However, I'm not very excited about riding for hours on I-85 so would anyone know of any good touring stops along there like a fun curvy road, favorite watering hole, cop hiding spot, or illegal cock-fighting events?

For your reference this is the basic route thanks to google: from: Hwy 53, Dawsonville, Pickens, Georgia 30534, United States to: Kannapolis, NC - Google Maps
