Ride up to SLO/Monterey

Reggie's Roadhouse Roundup 2008


I am working out a ride up to the central coast for some of us that cannot make the Reno meetup, or have cancelled. This is more centralized, and will allow more of us more ride time, rather than slab time.

Meeting point is going to be Reggie's house in Atascadero, CA. Reg has offered up some beds, floor space, tents, at his house. Please confirm on this thread that you will be going, and want to reserve a spot at Reggie's. If his place books up, other SLO people might be able to accomodate you, or you may opt for a local hotel.

Also, since some of us are going to be staying at Reggie's house, saving hotel $$, and so on....let's kick in some bucks towards Casa de Reggie...for beer, food, rent, etc....$20-25 bucks a person would be a nice gesture for our gracious host. Let's not be a cheap here!


Oh, and ANYBODY who is going, or thinks they are going, please note as such on this thread so I can add you to the list on the opening post. My psychic ability is waning , so if you don't tell me directly that you are going, or are going to try to go, I really won't know about you going, or will I? Who's on first, what's on second.......

As much as I love visiting Reno (not), I'm in for anything in my neighborhood.

XX can put together a base tour if you guys want too. It'll be boring, but you will see chunks of California that few civilians ever do. We can wrap it up with a ride through south county's wine country or down to Santa Barbara or something.

The more help the merrier Dan. Put on your thinking cap and give us some roads to ride that will pucker our . SLOVFR has said he will be around, and will help with showing around some.

Anybody is welcome to come. The details are being worked out. It is going to be the on the same weekend as the Reno meetup August 21-25 (or whatever you can do) because we have that time off already. I was thinking that this ride might be more doable for lots of folks that were not going to the Reno meetup due to distance.

Rough details are something like this....ride to SLO area, terrorize Reggies neighbors, and hopefully have some of the central cal folk show us some MORE twisties. Some have volunteered to help. Maybe even a ride up to Monterey hitting twisties up on the way.

This is all really rough right now, but I will try and post up some accomodation options when I get more info. I would love any input/info/offer of help that anybody has. I could use some help on this one. I am not the big at organizing these things when it is away from where I live, so bear with me.

Ok, all are welcome. I'm heading out to GP today but I'll come back later and try and put up more info. Even if I do work, my house is still availble for a base for you guys since I'm pretty centralized to good stuff. For those of you who like motorcycles (anyone? ... bueller?) and gambling, down near Solvang is a motorcycle museum and there is a casino so you don't have to miss out on donating your ca$h although I could get a decent hold'em tourney goin right in the garage. :) anyway, I might have to call in sick if I happen to be workin the whole time...cough cough... my throat is a little sore...it'll probably take a while to develop into a full blown ailment...like a month or so...

I heard that were would be this strange strain of flu going around in the end of August, heaven forbid that you get it. We could all bring you some medicine (as in riding the twisties) at get you better in no time!

Thanks a lot for the offer to help out. It would be a lot easier to have a base camp somewhere nearby.

Oh, and I agree with Long....I think we need to keep Speed away from the casino before he puts his bike up as collateral. Just messin' Speed!

I can plan a ride to Solvang one day and have breakfast and go to the motorcycle museum there in case you have not been,

I know Reg can put up a few people and so can I. Silver Sufer has called dips on the spare room twin bed but still have a couch and 3 air matresses. Tori may chime in and offer up a room himself....If someone wants a motel/hotel I can see what kind of rate I can get.

So, you have room for 4 more? Sounds like drewl will need a spot, as well as me, and scubalong, and nepix. If more want to come, I am ok with getting a hotel room nearby. Or maybe we will know if Hotel Reggie, where you can check in, but you can never leave, will be open by then......

August 21-25 or so. Different people might have different arrival and departure dates.

I've researched a few roads in the area for the trip and will post up after work tonight. I'll throw a few names out there to whet your appetite...

Santa Rosa Creek Road
Old Creek Road
Hwy 58 (long straights, fast sweepers and tight turns at the start and end...)
Hwy 229 (no center line, lots of twists and elevation changes; known as Rossi's Driveway...)

there's a couple of us coming up from LA and have no idea as to where we will all be sleeping. so if a local from the meet-up area could possibly post a hotel link or two, preferably where a majority of the other guys will be staying, that would be super.
i don't mind the change of venue, a ride is a ride as far as i'm concerned, but not knowing where i'll be resting my head for 3 nights is a little unnerving.
