Reg's moto GP thread

Ok, it's getting time for me to head up to Monterey for the race. I know I am waiting until the last minute but if any of you are also lurking on the board and going, try and find me. I'm going to take a straw hat to wear so I'll be easier to find. If you can track me down, I'll give you a free VFRworld business card redeemable for uh, well nothing, but it's shiny and I have a whole bunch of them to give away... I'm not gonna post my cell up here cause of stalkers and all, and quite frankly some of you are pretty weird...:mcrazy: but if you are gonna be there you can PM Derstuka and if he think you are legit he can get in touch with me. I already know NorcalBoy is there, SLOVFR is there, Tori is there so I'll probably be somewhere near where those clowns are...:mgrill: Keep a look-out, I'll be the one on the red VFR. :mwtf:

oh, and I'll post some pics etc on this thread when I get back... Should be late tonight...

Ask and ye shall receive...

This is Tori wearing his sunglasses so you can't tell where he's looking, but I'll bet it ain't at the camera...

This van is where we watched the GP and not to mention all the hot chicks going in and out... I lost count but let's just say I was starting to think it was a brothel cause every few minutes a hot chick would go in that door followed by a guy then come back out a little bit later...

This one is Tori walking back towards the stands and totally missing what was walking right beside him so I had to take the picture so he could see it later...

This is just more of the scenery...

Here's a group shot... I believe Tori has more of these cause we both had our cameras on overdrive...

I don't know about an autograph from those guys but I wouldn't mind just hanging out here for a bit...

This kid doesn't seem too excited considering where he is...

That's about all I could scrounge up right now... Tori should have a few to add... Next, I'll post up some bikes... I heard there was a race there, too so maybe someone caught that...

ok, now for some bikes...

Is it just me, or does this thing look like a transformer?

Ok, so this next one isn't a bike, but it was too cool not to post a picture of:

Here's some race bikes...

This next bike is a GSXR with a single sided frontend...

Here's Tori standing by one of those 250 racers that supposedly you can by for kids getting into racing and stuff... They'd be fun to try I think...

Here's a gatorade bike that looks neat:

Ok, how about a corona?

Here's the only action photo that actually caught a bike: It's during the superbike race and I don't know who it is...

Here's a pic of Tori in the stands where we watched the Superbike race once we got unlost from the paddock...

Next up is a few pic of emergency roadside repair, or what to do when your rear end is as loose as pam anderson after a few lines of coke...

Ok, so we finish up with the race... Now mind you I started the day in Atascadero and rode out around 9:15am to head for the race. I made it up to the track around 11:45 so I was pretty please with that. The crowd didn't seem as heavy to me this year, but maybe it was just the time I arrived. Anyway Tori and Brian wanted to come down hwy 1 so I rode with them. Some time south of Gorda I noticed that I couldn't hold a line when taking a curve.. At first I thought it was the wind, but then I decided something must be loose. At this point I started flagging Brian down to pull over... Well, he was observing the scenery or something so about 2 miles later we pulled over... I put the bike up on the centerstand and rotate the tire to find a little white piece of glass right in the middle of the tire... Lucky for me I brought my handy dandy roadside plug kit...

After digging out the glass and cleaning the hole with that thingy above, I stick one of these nice gummy plugs in there...

Then I squirt in a little fix a flat that I also had stuff in the saddlebag and then brian hooks up his porta-compressor... It took a while but it got me back up to 40psi which I decided was good enough.

And here's one of the last pics I snapped. It's getting on to the sunset and Tori was unsuccessful in his quest for the missing Ipod so we lined them up cliffside on hwy one and grabbed a couple shots for posterity.

That's all for now. It was a fun time. The only member I ran into was Norcalboy but I saw a few VFRs. It seemed like less than last year to me, though... I think we are fading away.... Anyway, maybe I'll see some of you next week when I take on Washington and Oregon... SLOVFR will be there, will you?

Nice pics Reg! Love the ladies!

See, isn't it nice to have a way out, instead of having to wait 2 hours for a AAA tow truck to haul your bike into a dealership that may or may not be open? I am all for being self-sufficient as much as possible!

+1 for tire repair kits!

Hijack - But a small one...

Great pics. Thanks. Sorry for the tangent, but a quick question about one of the VFRs. In that bike line-up picture, who's is the red one with CBR wings? And, how did he/she get those on there? Paint or...

Chick

That is member "Tori" and he painstakingly put those stickers on himself. He did a great job too, as I have seen it in person!

Thanks for the pics guys. Before reading the story about the flat tire, I thought some one stuck a screwdriver into Reg's tire. Then I thought 'no wonder the bike handled like crap, there's a screwdriver in the tire.'
