That's IF we go to the dragon and if we go there it'll probably be sometime between 2 and 4 pm. If you see a whole bunch of VFRs wave us down ;)

Sorry guys, I won't be there. I'm down in the back and I really don't think it would handle a 500 mile ride so I'm going to stick closer to home.

Joey, if you see this post something to let me know otherwise I'll call you this evening to make sure you guys don't wait on me.

I apologize. I'll try and make it next time ;(

Joey.....is wrestler going? Didn't know if that was too much for him.

Hope some more of your "maybe" peeps join in for the ride. Remember to bring that camera, and shine up that "secret" sticker on your helmet!

Sorry you can't make it Scott, thanks anyway for letting us know so we're not wondering where the hell Scott is ;) We'll have to do another time.

Oh and derstuka, wrestler's busy with his job so that's a no-go. So far it's looking like just the georgia people going for a ride, less people to distract the cops but I can handle it ha ha! Yeah and I'll bring the camera and snap some pics!

Guys, I apologize. My back started hurting earlier this week and as time went by it has started feeling more and more like the beginnings of a kidney stone. I've already had three of them so I know the preliminaries. I don't feel that bad, kind of like a nagging headache right now, but the thought of getting nailed by one nearly 300 miles from home scares the crap out of me. If you've ever had a kidney stone you know why, if you haven't you can't understand.

Krash and I are going to ride some tomorrow, just closer to places where I know people with garages and places with good hospitals ;)

Enjoy the trip, take plenty of pix and I promise I'll make the next one. How about a trip to the Barber Museum this fall?

Joey,
We'll meet you in the morning. If it's just us, we can do the same route up 60 from the 400 side. If there are others joining you, I'll meet you at the spur 60 and 515 gas station at 10:30, then on to the cherohola.
Gary

Well, Me, GeorgiaRider, Gray750VFR and a friend of GeorgiaRider all got together for the trip.

Here we are: George(Gray750VFR), Gary (GeorgiaRider), and Joey (Joey_Dude)

(You can tell the outlaw in this picture from the dark clothes )

It was cool having a bike from the 1st, 5th and 6th generations:

I got to say I'm really impressed with that 1st generation VFR. George has had it since 1984 and it's still running great! If Honda ever needs a testimonial as to the reliability of their bikes, they ought to give George a call.

Plus despite being over 20 years old, it can still give you a good run for the money. George was able to keep up with us 5th and 6th generation bikes!

Here's George trying out the saddle on Gary's 06 VFR:

Gary's shiny pearl white bike got quite a few comments from kids when we stopped at a gas station. I can see why it's a very nice looking bike!

Oh, and you'll probably laugh (and see this coming) but the subject of police came up. Gary's friend was saying he figured out a way to hide his plate by stretching his leg and covering the plate behind him. And then George was telling of a story with how you can avoid tickets by using the emergency lights if the cops are lit up behind you. Then I just couldn't help but contribute a trick that I use, which is to use a "secret" thin blue line sticker to get me out of tickets.

Anyway, the trip to Cherohala Skyway was a lot of fun but we had to be on yellow alert for gravel. Unfortunately we couldn't go the whole skyway because Gary was pointing out some ominious looking clouds ahead that can only mean one thing: rain. So we decided to just go back where we came from and we ran into some light rain. Not that a big deal but we had to turn down the spirited riding a notch.

We had to sort of cut the ride short since there was some light rain and I rode with George to his little campground at TWO resort in suches. It's a pretty cool little place with campgrounds tied together with little bridges.
If you're ever in the north georgia area looking for a motorcycle campground check out TWO: Two Wheels Only Motorcycle Resort and Campground

And that's the official report, I enjoyed riding with you guys and hope you got home safe George!

I made it home alive! Considering I was riding with JD & GR that's an accomplishment. Had a great time with you guys. I'll ride with you anytime. If you ever come up to Ohio I'll show you some fast sweeper roads. Only time I really had rain was at camp and not on the roads. Even though they were wet at times. Put 2200 miles on the bike with no problems. The Smokey Mtns and Maggie Vally was great. Especially the Wheels Through Time museum. Rode the Dragon from the top down. Didn't realize I was on it at first. It reminded me of a road on Mount Hamilton in CA except shorter. The Georgia roads were great and had some good challenges also. Found some good roads thru TN,KY & Oh on the way home. Some twisties and flat out runners with many sweepers. Thanks for the ride JD, GR and Russ. Later

ha ha, good to hear you're alive! I might be coming up to Ohio sometime next year to visit some family but I'll be sure to stop by for a little fun tour of fast sweepers!

Hey George,
Glad you made it home in one piece. Plan on another ride down this way sometime and we can hook up again for a day of fast sweepers, but next time more intense twisties would be preferred by me! :)
You've got a beautiful 83, now....park it and keep it that way. Get some newer wheels and retire 'old faithful' for the Sunday rides through the park!! :)

Take care and ride safe,
Gary
