Played hookie today.

I played hookie with my daughter today. We went to Rocky Mountain National Park and went to the top of trail ridge road, the temp was a balmy 42 degrees. The highest I read on my gps was 12,065 feet above sea level. Sure beats working!!!!

Nice. CO is beautiful. Bonding with family on a motorcycle? Sounds good to me.

I do hope she has a helmet! Beautiful scenery. I wish I had landscapes like that.

Hey Britt,

That would make an excelled thread. Not applicable to me as my kids are 19 & 21. Only family member to ride with me was my daughter, then only to go look at a car for her. Told her if she wanted to go look at cars, she would have to ride. I was utmost surprised that she rode very well. Didn't even know she was on.

And as for the scenery in Colorado, we in the mountainous areas tend to take this for granted.

She is ten and loves to ride, and yes she always wears a helmet, gloves and a armored leather jacket. I still do want to find her a nice pair of riding pants though.

Starting elevation was just over 5000 feet and about an hour up to 12,000 ft.

Well, today started out as any other day work started at 4:30 am, i got off at 10:00 am to attend my neighbor's funeral, so i stopped by and picked my twin 12 yr old boys and my 10 yr old boy from there school, to attend the services with me. and as we were driving on the freeway i got this idea...... as we drove past angels stadium in Anaheim,Calif. i thought for a second, my friend is not at the funeral home hes in heaven he was a christian. so i turned the caddy around and drove into the stadium parking lot and told the boys that my friend knew so many folks that it had to be held at angels stadium.
the boys were talking between them self's and said dads friend must have been some one special ? they cought on when i handed them there tickets to the Angles vs Yankees game. now i may have been wrong for not going to the funeral however i did attend the viewing last night ? and i may have been wrong for taking them out of school early today, but we had a blast today, awesome times, and the angles won 4 to 2.

Though paying one's respects usually is in the form of attending a funeral but it does come in many manners. One thing that is about the highest on my scale is quality time with your kids. You have done both there Speed. Don't sweat it. Only you know if you made the right decision. From my point of view I "think" you did. Today my son and I tore down the rotten fence in the back yard together. Should something terrible happen, I would not want either of us to think, I wished I hadda.

You sound like a very cool dad. You don't want to adopt a 35 year old do ya? I don't get in trouble much and promise not to sneak out at night and take your motorcycle for joyrides.

Regards,
Rollin
