chain and sprokets

ok...after around 20000 miles it's time.....time to change chain and sprokets. i've been checking on the internet and have found a package deal for 168.00. after checking with my local Ducati dealer here in Salt Lake..hey i know these guys. they checked for a better price and came up with ...nada. does anyone know of another or alternate vender other than Aftermarket Parts.com? not that i'm looking for "cheap" parts just the best for a fair price.
by the way i love this bike.....as soon as the weather .....what am i saying?? winter isn't even here yet!!!!! next time i ride my vfr it'll be with new sprockets and a new chain. mean time it's ski and ride (board).
another "problem" i have is that i must have ingested my oem tool set...it is no where to be found!! how do you lose it? go figure...all i really need is the tool that adjusts the chain. where do i get one? thanks for the time...Super Paul.

Check sumofallparts.net. I got a 520 conversion with 16F/43R and an RK X-ring chain. I do not remember the exact price, but I am thinking for around $140 (I have a 93). They will make a set with the size sprocket and type of chain (x-rin, o-ring). They currently show a 530 chain and sprocket set for $189

Sprocketcenter.com shows an OEM set for $165 here.

chain and sprockets

thanks for the info my man....so what's the advantage except for price between a 530..bigger..beefier..and the 520..smaller..less expensive? i'm thinking that the honda engineers designed the vfr with the 530..for a reason? what's up with that?

The 530 is a little more beefier than the 520. There is nothing wrong with the 530 either. I wanted a little less weight and rolling resistance. I also wanted a little more accelleration, which translated to the less weight you have to move the faster you can move it. Overall, it's not a huge difference. But so far, I am happy with my choice. Of course, as you pointed out, it is a little less costly, too.

i go with the 525 chain as a comp between the 520 & 530.
I want the beef & longer lasting (less stretching) with a little lighter weight.

Also, stay away from using a master link, & have the chain linked or barrow from someone that has the tool to put a link in.
stronger, & 1 less worry about loosing a link clip on a long ride & having the chain barrow some flesh from your calf (eeeewwwwwouch(.
