VFR and More ride..

Wow had a pretty good ride yesterday, covering about 400 miles doing what we have up here we call the Olympic Loop, where it's 101 all the way around the Olympic peninsula. We had for once great weather to boot, so off we went, in my group it was just 6 of us, but heard there was some 99 bikes broken down into 8 groups, Yes we passed a lot of bikes. This is where it got interesting, Not that I hate my bike, just found it's limits more than once, it never whimpered nor whined, just fell short in some areas that where driving me nuts. One was when it's time to pass a car, well to really get her going a drop or two in gears was necessary, then there's the brakes, more than one time I would have liked more to be able to go deeper in corners. I know it's limits and it's that, that was holding me back. Was ok, but now I'm thinking I need something with a bit more zip and all. Still all in all a great day to get out. Photos as follows.

The hook up spot.

First gas stop for some, What's ya know, Rev showed up too, was cool to see him out. Is this a good time to mention I saw 50 mpg? only had to fill up once

First real break where I wanted to take in a scene along the way, besides, was a good stop to clean off the bugs too.

Bikes in the group, Aprilia Futura, 07 CBR 1000rr, GSXR 1000, CBR 954 (my son Justin blowing his nose. LOL) and an 07 R6.

Well Hell, had a small set back, nothing to big a deal, just set us back catching up with the lead group. See, even I get caught in the cookie jar now and then.

LOL, some folks just have to stop and pee more than I'd like

All in all was a good outing, less a little opps. just thought I'd share my day, anyone else get out?

Yea I got an award.. On the question of more power, Not a whole lot more needed, I'd say if I could keep my ergo's and have a VFR engine with say 130hp to the ground in a light way chassis like the 954 then I'd be set, LOL hate getting passed at 145 I mean the good ole girl was at her limits, all was just fine, till my son comes up along side and winks and slowly keeps going on by, LOL there's a story in that. we had like a clear 4 miles of flat straight section of road that was just perfect conditions for this sort of thing.

Pretty sure it needs more than a big bore kit, all thou it would help, just believe there is a lot of little things that play into the big picture. I mean lots has happen in the last 10 years in development in this arena. More or less have it narrowed down to this, 40 pounds lighter 30+ more horse power, better brakes & suspension up grades which would no doubt mean there'd be some chassis mods. now keep the ergos, and of course keep the killer looks like a 1098. That's not to much to ask for is it?

101 defiantly magnifies the VFR's weaknesses, had almost the same thought process last weekend coming back from Oregon, after whooping up on the sportbikes all day on roads like Apiary, Fishhawk Falls & Hwy 53, the VFR was passed like it was sitting still on the 101 portion with it's long straights and high speed sweepers. Oh well, I'm sure were a minority on this board because the VFR is so close to perfection, but the VFR's lack of power on the top end and braking is the only thing that keeps me searching if the grass is greener on the dark side...

Well I did! Only did about a hundred miles or so, being new to riding my body didn't want to go longer, even if my mind did. Beautiful day in Jersey for riding. You can check out my route here: Motorcycle Rides

I didn't take many pictures, just one or two of my new camera mount, I did take a short video: YouTube - New Camera Mount... need to get more memory.
