I'm In. Damned good thing we are not staying at Winthrop. If it is raining there, I am just going to blast through. My hair is standing on end even thinking about that place.

Just a heads up. Doublecheck that route to Winthrop before leaving. Great ride!!! It can be closed due to snowpak or avalanches. From Concrete to Marblemount watch for smokys. There used to be one dude there who worked days that had a real Viagra hard on for bikes. Gas up in Concrete. I know you Canadian guys ride for the best mileage but..

Cool..I was going by the map and assumed the route was 9 South to Sedro Wooley to the North Cascades Highway. Concrete, unless things have changed, is the last gas until Winthop. There is a gas station and convenience store in Concrete that where most bike folk gas up. Ya got folks coming from the South through Arlington and Darrington and up I-5 from Seattle environs. Pretty good coffee and kind of a nice place to take a short breather, take a leak and take in the great ride over the North Cascades Highway.
The roadbed is great usually. The area to be careful of the "taxman" is between Concrete and Marblemount.
Washington has a fairly new head cheese in the State Patrol. One of his first acts was to up the stops especially in summer. What I heard for a figure was an increase in stops of 127%. He also moves officers out of the higher density population areas into the areas where they know folks put the pedal to the metal. Speeding fines are a great source of money going into the state coffers. The folks in Olympia love this guy.
If you or any American guys get nailed by a "stater", unless you specifically request right then and there that you wish to go to court near your home, you will be dealing many times with some smaller county courts and be playing against a stacked deck. They will beat you up with paperwork, delays, the old "the officer is on vacation" routine and do the reschedule dance until the date is when there is so much snow that the passes are closed. Sneaky Bastards? Yep.

Another area to watch for the troopers is the small strech between Wenatchee and Leavenworth. Speed is 55MPH and you don't want to go more than a couple over that. I have driven this spot over 50 times in the last 5-10 years (in-laws live in Pateros) and I have seen at least one, usually two, troopers EVERY time.
Still working on the logistics to see if I can join you.

I'm still a faint maybe, I might have a flying gig, that said, not sure you included this, but make sure you run up to Sunrise at Mt Rainier as well. I think I see the route pointed to Paradise, Sunrise is on the east side and is another awesome route with great vistas, might as well hit it up while you're there.
What time are you guys leaving Leavenworth in the morning of the 2nd day? I might ride up Highway 2 from Seattle and meet you on the 2nd day.

I just tried to book at Quality Inn Suites. Their minimum stay is 2 nights so they would not book me for one night. They suggest the Der Ritter House directly across the road from them. 509-548-5845. Quality Inn was also expensive. One King bed was $129.95 + taxes. Two Queens was $151.95 + taxes. I just got back from San Fran so I have had enough of Queens.

Randy we booked a room for one day without an issue. The cost for two Queens was $124 after tax....
Call em again, call direct, call the 800 line, there's something fishy going on there. We all need to stay at the same place.

Sadly I won't be able to make this ride since I have some Washington boyz coming to stay at my house at the end of June to ride Northern California, but I'm 100% in for any ride you guys come up with in 2010 since were trading off every other year between states.
The only thing I don't miss about Washington are the Staters, I tried to be cautious while riding in Washington but still ended up paying enough in lawyer fee's to buy Randy & Michael new PClll's, Today I was clocked going 78 in a 65 on 101 on my way to Legget and the CHP didn't even give me a second look, the difference in Wa & CA is if I get a ticket in CA I think it will be well deserved, I never had that feeling in WA...

how long would it take you to ride to Leavenworth?
for any other riders from Seattle that may be interested we could meet you in marblemount just past rockport on first day. we met a few riders last yr from Seattle on Winthrop ride there, they rd up hwy 530.
Badbilly marblemount is the last place to get gas before heading over the pass next gas station is just east of Winthrop.

I will call them again in the morning and challenge them on this. Initially they took my reservation but literally seconds later, another woman called me back to say they did not book for less than two days.
Anone else out there who doesn't fart louder than me who wants to share a room....separate beds of course.

Sorry guys it is a race weekend. I will be wishing I was cruzin the twisties with you all rather than pushing, sliding and shitting my pants on the track for sure.
Ryan Welton

I'm in for sure. Now just to get a room. Will sleep outside if I have to. Done that before but that was usually preceeded with a good 26er of Rye Whiskey and Pepsi. But of course I don't do that anymore.
We still have only got four going? Where are all the other pansies? Mama must have them baking pies and planting flower gardens.......not that there is anything wrong with that.

Maybe you should grab that room across the street. The one I booked has only one bedso bunking up is not an option!
I'll sleep in de mittengrabben or whatever the ?>!# it's called. Better to get the rooms and cancel then sleep under your bike.
