BP- took off work yesterday and went out. It's official, I know the route we took on the ride we did with the dcsportbike group. I ran it yesterday and added a little more to it. I was going to head over to 211 and run up and down that but the day was getting late. And even out there the traffic was starting to pop up. So I headed home and called it a day.

Hey I never said the RC51 is a good bike to learn on, especially on the track, in fact it is probably a horrible bike to learn on. Wow, I think that is the first bad thing I have ever said about my RC51. It is heavy, slow, hard to turn, etc, etc. It is a great bike no doubt, but not for a beginner.

But I do agree with you, it was always funny smoking other bikes that were much nicer like MV Augusta's, fancy Ducati's, and or the guys that had pretty all brand new suits, gear, bikes, etc. Nothing better than passing people with an old slow bike while they are riding the best equipment that happens to be out there that year.

Welcome aboard DIMford. Any pics? I just discovered some side bags on Ebay for slightly less than the factory bags. Might be worth a shot if you're looking to go that route. And if you plan on riding with us you'll need them to haul enough stuff to come play for a weekend.
I'll have to see about that. I am pretty experienced with packing light and have a Squad 2 Pack from Icon for now.

Will do. Always looking to do some group riding. I was reading the Owners manual and it said the break in period is 300 miles. why the disparity?

Planning on doing a long ride tomorrow. Going to the mountains. Meeting at the BP at 522 and Huguenot Trail at 1030. Or meet somewhere near my house around 930ish. Let me know if interested. It will probably be about a 500 mile day so no cry babies.

Dimford....."Will do. Always looking to do some group riding. I was reading the Owners manual and it said the break in period is 300 miles. why the disparity?'

I just got mine as well about a month ago. From what I've picked up on here is,it takes 600. The book wants us to take it easier the first 300 (Say no more than 5 to 8k) and not do rapid accelerations/decelerations. 300 to 600,step it up take the rpm's up all the way but do it slowly;Don't hold it there more than 5/10 sec;then let it down slowly, wait 5 min and do it again.

Of course there's people that say ride it normally;more say ride it hard breaks in with more HP......Monk

BP- In Louisa. From there we are heading towards Nelson County below C'ville. It's an awesome ride. If you take exit 110 Ladysmith you can be at my house in 15 minutes. Every road from 95 is pretty good. No boring highways. From your house its an hour to mine. Worth the trip if you can make it out. You have my number, let me know.

Anyone riding today? I certainly am. Would like to ride down to Molly's in Warrenton for lunch and then head west into wherever from there. Let me know.

No problem. Glad you made it out. Next time you ride that far to the playground you need to play more! Get some leathers and come back out.

I got this book at Borders called Total Control by Lee Parks. Taught me everything I know and it has lots of pictures so its easy to read.

Did you get a big flat spot from slabbing home? We went back the way we came. The guy on the 600 left right after you and took the interstate as well. Needless to say the ride home was spirited. L8RGYZ should have the pics up soon.

Just finished cleaning up the bikes and gear. Heading out shortly for some lunch and then headed west via 55, 340, 15, 17 somewhere in that corridor. Hope to see some of you out there.

Looking good boys. Based on those lean angles you guys were trucking. I hope you guys were being careful on them back roads as it is still early in the season and as I noticed today, lots of sand still sitting around.

Don't worry about them fast guys above, you can catch up to them at the stop sign at the bottom of the hill usually. Just ride your ride and have fun. I was out most of the afternoon knocking the cobwebs out of the bike and myself. Had a bunch of fun, and the weather was amazing.

I was out for about 250 miles yesterday. Did you get out? I need to freshen up the suspension on this bike as it felt pretty loose in the corners.

Saw you and the wife coming down Sudley Manor, waved. I was on the my buddies black bike. I didn't get out other than the quick trip down to Vint Hill.

Matt, so that was you doing the big ole celebrity wave on Sudley Manor near the Braemar area? I thought it was funny how big the wave was? What kind of bike was that as it had the stealth paint job on it and I couldn't tell.

LOL!! I had just made the left out of my neighborhood and looked up and saw a VFR and then I saw the monster in trail. I was like, "I know who that is!!!"

I was on my buddies 09 black and gold R6S. Fun little bike! He's still learning to ride a street bike so I took him out to Vint Hill Farms to one of the big parking lots. He did a couple of drills and then I had him ride the bike back to my house.

Also- The wife signed up for the beginner riders course. Apex has a ladies only course and she felt that was the one for her. Her class is in June! Hopefully the wife and I will be able to join you two for some rides!

Sounds good Matt. It always makes me nervous when brand new riders go out and purchase such superbikes like a brand new R6S. Gnarley bike though. Taking a MSF course is a great way to understand the basics.

I hope we can get out and ride with you and your wife as well. I bet you heard my wifes Monster before you even saw us. ever since we installled the new exhaust on her bike, I swear it sounds so good and loud just like a Harley. Damn, did I really say that.

Well I took my buddy out to the assorted dealers in the area and he sat on a lot. At the end of the day he liked the R6S. The R6 was just too forward from him and the R6S seemed to be the middle ground on the bikes he sat on that day. I was worried about him getting on the bike at first but I road it before he did. That thing is a pussy cat until 10k. The brakes were not over the top either. The bike is surprising easy to ride and he adapted to it very quickly. After two days of parking lot drills I put him on the road and he did very well. He said that he the highest he revved the bike was some where in the neighborhood of 8k. I told him to keep it that way until he gets some seat time. And not to worry because I will make sure the motor sees revs above 10k for now!! He is signed up for the msf course in MD for a class at the end of the month.

Oops. I might have goofed. I thought the R6S was the suped up version of the R6. I am sure you will manage 10k RPM's for your buddy, no problem.

Y'all need to show where you find these girls who ride. I think I'm going to be single the rest of my life until I do. Otherwise she will never see me.

What's up with the weather now? Swear I saw a snowflake in Manassas this evening.
