Hot Springs Arkansas Rally Sept. 11-14 2008
Hot Springs Rally Link
I see a total of 6 VFR members here. I have some questions for everyone to answer first. 1. Who is going? 2. How long will they be staying? 3. Should we organize one ride and what day if so? SAT or SUN 4. Does anyone have a place down there open for any of us to stay? 5. Should we invite any friends to travel with us? 6. Do we have a photography person in the crowd? I have a $100.00 camera LOL 7. I'm thinking of a leave at 10am and get back at 2-3 PM route with a stop point for lunch? Possible hit a swimming hole along the way to cool off. |

Im there!!! I am only 45 minutes from Hot Springs and I make the trip over Jack Mountain (great curves) at least once a week. I will most likely go both days. So to answer you questions....
1) My friend David on his GS500F....My girlfriend may go at least one day..Thats 3 people and 2 bikes.. 2) I most likely wont stay the whole night...I dont have a place for others to stay, but my mother and friends do live there...If it gets that wild I will stay the night..I am close enough to ride home... 3) Sat. would be best for the planned ride...I am already in the process of making maps..I know the area and have some intersting roads planned for us...jack mountain/west mountain/lookout point/etc...we have some pretty scenes up on those hills.. 4)Nope...Sorry but Momma doesnt allow overnight guests...and most of my friends are barely making their rent.. 5)Yes, the more the merrier...I am planning to have some NON VFR riders with me...We might even have some cruisers..so the planned ride will have the speed/twisties.... 6)I have a 5 megapixel cam...not a great photographer..but it takes outstanding pics... 7) That sounds perfect....pretty hot from 1-7pm... So let me know...I can post my cell for contact once we are in Hot Springs.....

1. As of now, I'm going. I believe I have training that week and the following week, if so, I'll have saturday and sunday off.
2. If I stay at my wife's friend's condo with them, we may go friday. If the wife doesn't go, I may just go Saturday morning and stay the night. 3. I vote for Saturday ride, doesn't matter where we go, I'm not too familiar with the area. 4. At the Condo, wish I could have guests, but is not my place. I'm more likely gonna get a hotel room somewhere, better get one soon tho!! 5. The more the Merry, there may be several of us from Texarkana that will be going (Yamaha, Suzuki, Hondas, Harleys) 6. I think we'll need somebody to take few photos, I'm sure we can find somebody. 7. That sounds good to me. I'd like to make the concert and maybe throw some beads!! ![]()

OK, I thought it was time for this thread to re-surface since we are only 3 weeks away. Do we have anymore riders that would like to go for a ride on Saturday Sept 13?

I know I will be there, especially for the "twistie ride" on Saturday. I may have to work on Friday night though...I had planned to meet @ wild wings @ 11:00 or so, and run about 30 miles down highway 7 until the caddo junction, nice smooth curves, then up jack mountain back to hot springs. Maybe 65 miles total, but we should be moving pretty quickly..
The roads up Jack mountain will be a work out for even the experienced riders, switchbacks, and blind corners ought to turn even the hardest riders face into a grin. Should be less than a 2 hour trip. Other than that, I was planning on rocking out to styx and drinking some beer. Luckily I know the best place to see the dancing girls, mine most likely wont attend so I may get to stay out late...Again I can give out my cell, and offer a place to stop before hot springs for you VFR owners coming from the south...870-403-6854...Andrew..I will be there Sat. and Sun. and if I can get out of it maybe Friday too...Let me know guys..

Hello my fellow Arkies. I would love to go but will be out of town on business. I did ride this past Sunday on the Pig Trail. Stopped by the Turner Bend store near Mulberry creek, and then hit I-40 back to I-540.
Enjoy the trip guys, and be safe.

My Indy GP plans have gone away. I may be there for Saturday and Sunday with one CBR1000 friend in tow, or vice versa.

I have a pretty neat little ride planned. It should last a total of 2 hrs at most. It is pretty curvy though. I will only be up there Saturday morning. I have to work on Friday night, so I thought around 10- 11 am would be the ideal time. Thought we could meet at wild wings west and ride, then come back to eat. I am only planning on making the ride then checking out the bike show at 1:30-4:00 or so....Wish I could stay out but I have some serious girlfriend time due Sunday morning. Like I said, anyone wanting to come can call me or meet me at wild wings west. Let me know guys.

Bummed, I'm not going to be able to make it due to money reasons; 05 f-150 fuel injector stuck in open position and caused the connecting rod to bend. I'm over the warranty so its time for a new engine $6,000 in the hole.
I hope you guys have a great weekend and be safe. |

Weather is not looking good...Man would I hate to have to drive my car to the rally....It may be rained out..I know the hardcore riders will be there suited in rain gear, but I bought a VFR, you know they melt when water hits them.....
