Check out hwy 42 going from Sanford to Asheboro. Very nice local ride with lots of twisties.

OLR = Old Libert Road. 99 curves for about 11 miles between Liberty and Ashboro. Take Hwy 421 to Old Liberty Road in Randolph County, go towards Ashboro. You've probably been on it. The road with 3-4 one lane bridges.

Yeah, I thought you were referring to OLR here,

but I see now that 42 is further south and doesn't cross OLR, which is actually NC 49N until you get to Liberty, then becomes old liberty road.

You could make a nice little loop coming up from Sanford on 42 to Asheboro, cutting back up OLR, then down S Fayettville, down to 22, then back on to 42 or something like that.

Regardless, looks like good roads out there.

The shop I work for in Durham does a group ride every Tuesday night after we close. Since its dark and half the people that work there are woosies concerning the cold, we are not currently doing the ride, but once it warms up....
Anyway, anyone who wants to join is more than welcome.
I've been thinking of putting together some Saturday afternoon rides. We close at 3pm and even the lightweights could probably handle an hour or so of riding before it gets dark....
Just a thought...

When in doubt, I jump on Google Earth (pronouced "Google Earf " in most parts of Fayetteville). It labels the roads and I can find some off the beaten path little offshoots and rabbit trails with some nice turns and hills.

In the future, I hope to get that Garmin made for Bikes. Right now, it's too dang expensive.

Let me know if you start a ride. I got mad winter gear and a veefa. I can handle anything at this point...well, anything above 30. I got my hands bit at 26 the other morning on my way to work. Wasn't very fun.

There is a group ride planned for Sunday that will run from Michael's near Chapel Hill to Garner.
The plan is to meet at Michael's at 9 and ride at 10. The weather is supposed to be AWESOME on Sunday, so come out and represent the Viffers !

Details here: http://raleighbikes.proboards99.com/...ead=1168412478

I plan to be there along with my buddy on his CB-1.
Hope to see you there....

daggg, yall are killing me with these Sunday rides. Doesn't anyone go to church anymore. Maybe I'll try to hustle and catch the tail end or something. Regardless, I'll be out on the bike Sunday. Have a good one if I don't see you.

the CB-1s are sweet too.

Hustle~

I'm thinking future rides will start a little later since I know several people that won't be going tomorrow b/c it's too darn early for them.
If you check the link I posted, it has a route list. If you are feeling brave, you can always try to link up with us somewhere along the way.

Awesome day for motorcycles

I know that much of the US is having some pretty lousy weather, and I don't mean to rub it in, but here in NC, we have had some INCREDIBLE riding weather. The Weather Gods were smiling upon us once again yesterday as it was mid 70's and sunny.
For those of you in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area not familiar with Michael's Bar & Grille on 15-501, it is THE Sunday morning meeting spot for all makes and models of motorcycles. With the great weather, there were more than 200 motorcycles out there. Everything from a 1945 Indian to a Ducati 999. I only saw two other VFR's so obviously, we need to get some of you to come out next time.
Our group met at 10 and we rolled out at around 11. We covered about 100 miles of beautiful twisty back country roads. No close calls and everyone had a great time.
Check out some of the pics:
