I'm here still man. I made the same post a few months ago. Many of them are posting up at VFRD. Don't know why, but I like the atmosphere here a little better. I'll be up in Mesa for Thanksgiving for about 3-4 days. I'll probably ride the bike up as the wife drives, so I can get away from the in-laws and go for some nice rides up through salt river canyon and such. Give me a holler, I'll ride with ya.

It's been hot and I haven't been on the bike. Now that the weather is turning nice, I'm too busy building my recording studio to ride.

Hey guys!

Having only visited AZ only once ('97) and absolutely LOVED the place, you have my respect for riding there!
Damn that heat though. Do you do anything different with riding gear for the conditions?

I know of TX riders only going out at night during summer.

The running joke down here that comes from visitors is, "It's hot there, but it's a dry heat." Yeah, it's a dry heat alright and really f'in hot . Anything over 100 here is pretty awful and if you are working in it, you better be careful. When it's 110 or over, it's just plain miserable especially riding a motorcycle and especially in stop and go traffic. On the interstate you feel like you are in a blast furnace. The best thing that you can do if you have to ride during the day is to completely soak your shirt, mesh jacket, and helmet with water to get an evaporative cooling effect. It works so well that you actually feel cold....at least until you things start to dry out which only takes about 10-20 minutes. It actually feels hotter riding with a just a t-shirt on because of the heat blast. I will ride year round, but June through August are almost unbearable and everyone stays indoors with the AC and only comes out after the sun goes down. It's still hot, but at least you are not getting fried by the sun! During the months aforementioned, you can get away with pleasure riding from about 5:00 to 7:00 in the morning before it gets too hot.

I'll be there, as long as work,(or the lack of) doesn't get in the way.

Yup.

I was in Eloy during August... Never got over that heat, but the late afternoon thunderstorms and lightning shows - WOW!!
Truly amazing.

Riding in traffic? Forget that!

It may get warm here in phx, but I've only had to ride in snow twice in 32 years!

Roger that! Last winter, down in here in Tucson, we actually had to close schools because it snowed and rained all night then froze on the streets. Needless to say, they aren't prepared down here in southern AZ for that kind of thing, ie: needing to put salt on the roads when that happens. Everyone had to stay off the roads until it warmed up a little.

I am riding to Phoenix this weekend for the MC show. I am keeping mum about which route I am taking too! LOL. I haven't been on a ride in quite a while, so I am hoping to make it somewhat interesting. Anyone game?
