ARIZONA Meetup with Drewl
Hey Arizona folks!!
I will be in the Phoenix area the third week of January. A few of you know I lived in the Chandler area for several years and my family still lives there. Anyway, I thought it would be a great idea if we could get as many members together as we could for lunch one afternoon. This would be a great opportunity to get to know other members who may be close by. I know AZ is a big place. I am open to your suggestions as to a central location for the meetup. From what I have seen, most of you live in the Valley or in Tucson. Somewhere in between would be great(the two areas are nearly touching these days anyway). If anyone from up north has any ideas speak up. We should try and make it as central as we can. I do not think I'll be on a bike, but it is a possibility. My thinking was that it would just be lunch so we can sit and talk and get to know each other...plus then we could have a beer or two if we wanted I do not have a specific date yet but it would be around, but not including, Sat the 25th.( I have a wedding that day) If it does not work for everyone, maybe we could split it up into 2 days? I will know my schedule better closer to then. Anyone interested? Post UP. The folks in Cali, Wash, and Del have all done this so far and they are ALL glad they did.

Thanks for the bump derstuka. Drewl -- I'd be up for it. Pretty certain I'll be in town and I live close to Chandler.

Arizona is closed this week and will return next week to answer your call.
That's so far out I can't even comprehend scheduling. Remind us again as next year draws closer! |

Definitely. I just wanted to post early to give as many members a chance to see it/hear about it/get interested...
Plus this way we'll have time to haggle over location/time/etc.

That IS quite a ways out, timewise. AZ isn't THAT far away from me, and depending on what's going on in my life at that point, I might be interested in riding out for the weekend to do some sightseeing and meet up with you guys. I'll keep an eye on the thread and see what IS. Would be good to see ya again Drewl and meet some more members!

There ya have it, folks. A non-Arizonan has thrown down the gauntlet(pun intended). Now you all are under pressure to represent.

Hey Drewl, thanks for the offer. I think it is a possibility but I do have one trip planned already for January and another one possible. I'd love an excuse to ride up to Phx so let me know as the planning gets more firm.

Hey Scuba, you can ride out to Vegas and we can ride together. Anybody from CA who wants to do this ride, can use my house as a stopover, then we can ride the last let to AZ from here. SLOVFR is probably gonna give me crap for offering this up, but so what... he can come too!!

Please remember I do not plan on being on 2 wheels. I was just thinking a get together meal.
Those of you wanting to ride in are welcome. It will be January. Az does get chilly in January. The northerners even see snow. So keep all of that in mind.

Drewl is such a tease! Depending on weather, I'm still in. I can ride in 30 degree weather thanks to Mr. Gerbings... if there's snow in the forecast though, I'm out. No snow for me!

Yep, in the last 35 years it has snowed in phoenix maybe 5 times. (I was riding in it 3 of them) It even stuck for an hour or two once. Up in Carefree/Cave Creek it happens more often due to higher elevation, but it doesn't stick long either.
Between Phx and Tucson it just gets chilly. |
