Discount MotoGP tickets - July 18th-20th, Laguna Seca, Salinas, CA

After some collaboration with the Laguna Raceway team, we have come up with 3 great discounted group buy packages to the 2008 Red Bull MotoGP at Laguna Seca, Salinas, CA on July 18th-20th. We basically have unlimited availability, so please have your friends PM me and I will send them order forms ASAP. FYI - Hospitality Tents during the race are still sold out, but they will let me know if they can find extra space... They are willing to throw in some free-bees depending on how many sign up, so please let your friends know.

July 18th-20th - http://www.laguna-seca.com/Tickets/i...ets&EventID=22

Package A - Normal Price - $230, VFRworld - $195...
3 Day General Admission Pass, Paddock Pass, Group VIP Parking, Group Grandstand seating on Turn 4! This option is best if you want to get a hotel room on your own.

Package B - Normal Price $280, VFRworld - $235...
Includes everything in A + 2 nights (Fri+Sat) Group Camping Area, minus the VIP parking (because camping including parking at your site for 2 bikes)

Package C - Normal Price $330, VFRworld - $280...
Includes everything in A + 3 nights (Thu+Fri+Sat) Group Camping Area, minus the VIP parking (because camping including parking at your site for 2 bikes)

*all orders will be subject to a $6 ticketing fee

I am planning on having at least 1 car or SUV at the group camp ground, so bring some exta $$ to fill the coolers with beer, wine, snacks and maybe even some BBQ. We'll worry about that later.

++++++Please PM me with your email address so I can send you the PDF order form. I will update this thread and add your names to the list so we can track the VFRworld members.+++++

FYI - here is the mailing address for your order forms, unless you plan on faxing it in.

Attn: Jason Cordoba
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
PO Box 2078 Monterey, CA 93942

As of right now, there are at least 10 people or so ready to buy, and are getting their friends in line too. Please tell all of your friends so we can make this first time a success and get even better deals in the future!

FYI - Hotel info from the folks at Laguna:

In regards to particular hotels, we have our hotel partners listed here: www.laguna-seca.com/travel

There is a new very large hotel opening up on Cannery Row in May, called “Intercontinental The Clement Monterey”. They just came aboard as a partner. Our hotel partners are properties have agreed to a set of terms that we put in place to prevent our fans from being gouged (for lack of a better term) on the big event weekends. It all stems from the MotoGP event, being the largest event in the county; some properties were taking advantage of the occupancy rates and making it very expensive for our fans. Our hotel partners will not do that. Now, having said that, the Monterey Peninsula is a premier tourist location and room rates often do reflect that status. What I’ve found is that many folks will stay in Salinas, or Watsonville even Santa Cruz. It’s not a far ride at all, and typically room rates are less expensive.

I'm interested but the problem I am running into is that the hotels that are partners are all booked. the hotels that aren't partners are price gouging. $250++ per night for roach motel in Salinas. If they are gonna be like that I'll probably not stay for the whole 3 days so I'll just get general admit and mess around on Sunday then watch the race and leave like I did last year. I just don't have the extra dough to drop $1000 for a weekend... I am gonna discuss it further with my wife. I may do the camping thing but I'm pretty sure she won't. Tori also is not interested in camping.

Reg, we got gang-raped for $250+ a night on the weekend in Salinas at the '05 races....we thought it was for the whole weekend. Never again. I don't care if I have to drive an hour, spending $700+ for 3 nights was preposterous. I could have took a 5-day cruise to mexico for that...not to mention donated a lot of money to strippers!

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I spent part of mine installing my new Givi wing rack. Those instructions are TERRIBLE!

I just wanted to see if anyone had any more questions about the group buy, or if there is anything you would like that isnt currently included in the package.

Hotel Searchers: Have you thought about renting an RV? Look into it a little more, and if it looks good I will see if I can get them to include RV parking in the cost of one of the packages...

Hey everyone...

FYI - I'm traveling to Barcelona on Friday through next Sunday, so I wont have a lot of access to email. Please email me tonight or tomorrow morning if you want the order form - dswenson@techtarget.com.

If you can't get in touch with me, try shooting a PM to one of the guys on the list and I'm sure they would be happy to forward the form over.

Thanks,
Dana

Hi everyone,

Barcelona was a friggin blast. SOOO many crazy eropean model bikes that I have never seen before. I was especially fond of Honda's big Africa Twin. Tons of VFRs out there too, even a forrest green 3rd gen which I have never seen. Tons of little 50cc and 125cc CBRs and Aprilias as well.

I just sent out about 6 or 7 more oder forms, so we are off to a good start here. I am swamped with work, but I will touch base with the people at Laguna this week for an official update.

Let me know if you have any questions, and make sure you send me an email address if you'd like an order form. Feel free to pass them along to friends too!

Dana

Not to hijack your thread, but...For those who cannot/will not rent a room or do not want to camp...is there a package just for admission? Maybe we can crash somewhere out of the area and ride to the races. Just a thought.

Yup, Package A does not include camping but does include VIP parking...

Latest feedback from the Laguna people:

***We need to start sending those order forms in ASAP***

-The most urgent piece of this whole thing is the paddock pass. Those are a limited number and will eventually sell out.
-Although the Premier Camping Section is sold out, there is plenty of space elsewhere so that isnt a concern yet.
-VIP Parking is for bikes only. There is another lot for cars and a free shuttle to the track, so no worries for those bringing the cages.
-If we do not excede 20 total orders this first time, dont worry. We can merge into another group if that hapens and swing for the fences next year.

Thanks,
Dana
