do they ever setup cones in a parking lot & have a "track day"??? I was crusing by the stadium Saturday & the SCCA was out there running & it reminded me of how back @ home, the local club used to setup "tracks" in parking lots & have a nice little weekend track.
Does anyone here in SD do that??
Bob

Hey Maliboost if you want to take over some parking lot and convert it to a mini track day, count me in.
Thanks betarace. Those are good clubs, but I think Maliboost was referring to a inexpensive practice session of sorts.
Yeah me too! I'm a newb still and in need of some practice! In fact I've been looking around my neighborhood for a place where I can cone off some areas to practice. Please let me know if you guys want to plan something.

Chuckman I am up for it. If you find a place this weekend, I will come up. Will bring my Lee Parks Total Control book and we can practice drills. :-)
Willow springs is a good option (likely the only real one), but thats a good 2 solid days & another 2 or 3 days of prep, not to mention expenses. I was thinking more along the lines of just going down unloading the tank bag & wailing around a bit. no trophies, no profesional instructors, no real track prep other than running a broom around to make sure there are no nails or screws loose.
I have not checked all those links, but I think they are all in Riverside/San Bernadino/OC/La counties, which would make it a major evolution VS a simple day thing. I suppose I could go out to the mountains & blast around, but Im a "racing blongs on the track" kind of guy.

My stupid computer crashed on me B4 I could finish my train of thought.
I think I am going to call the local Auto-X club & find out if we can just tag onto thier days. that really would be ideal. then we could show up when we wanted & not have to worry about all the small details. Im sure the big deal is going to be insurance.
Also, maybe I will call that sport bike place in Kearny Mesa off of the 15 freeway & Clairemont Mesa Blvd (I think thats where it is) & see if they know of anything.

My friends Jeff, John Paul and Evan get together and practice in some local parking lots and it works great. Just watch oil spots and thick paint lines. The thick paint lines are a pain, but not real bad, small slides only
You can't see the cones in the pic and I'm on Evan's zx6. but you see it works.

Well............... dont look like thats gonna happen. too bad, I think its a great idea.
Bob
well............. the SCCA has some stupid rule about 4 wheels, & they did not like my resolution to that slight problem. :(
Still gonna make a few more calls. there has to be more than a handfull of folks here in "San Diego" that would like to do this.
bob
