Parkfield Loop

Well, we had about 4 show up for the group ride today. Looks like the weather ran off the sissies. 59 degrees and cloudy is just too awful for a lot of Cali riders. Hell, in MO, that's good weather! Ended up riding with only 2 others as one of the guys broke off to ride with a local high speed (read slicks on tarmac) type group. Those of us out for the cruise decided to stay inland since it was cool enough here that the coast might have been cold and/or foggy.

The trip led us all through the wine country. We have over 50 winieries within a 30mi area. Made it up to Parkfield the round about way for lunch. I ended up eating alone at the Parkfield Cafe on the San Andreas fault. http://www.parkfield.com/ It's a quaint little historical town. Definitely worth a visit if you ever make it this way. They even have a six room inn that you book from the cafe so you can ride all the way there from out of town, book rooms, drink in the cafe and retire in the inn to ride back out the next day. It would make for a nice 2 day trip from most anywhere in Cali.

Not a lot of pics with the weather what it was.

Here's me in front of the cafe...

Here's the inn across the street...

And finally, here's the bike sitting on the faultline...

All in all I think it was around a 3 hour loop. After leaving Parkfield, I headed towards Cholame then caught 41 and headed home from there. It was a pleasant enough ride. I realized on this ride that those painted lines are very nice at night, but on a wet day, they increase the pucker factor exponentially!
