Stripping rims - Polished Aluminum

Ok guys and gals. I know this has been covered before, but does anyone have a link to a page that describes, step-by-step, the process for stripping the black paint off VFR rims and for polishing the rims to a shiny aluminum finish? Yes---I did search the archives and I also searched on VFRDiscussion, but neither was very fruitful. Please respond directly to me so as to not waste any more bandwidth.

Thanks in advance,Roger B. Chase Sr. AMA: 677639HRCA: HRC 300007192http://www.frappr.com/?a=myfrappr&id=140884Mohave Valley, Arizona1998 Honda VFR800FiChatrboxCB_VFR.@xxxxxx(Just take the excess periods outand you got my email address!)

Used your garden variety paint remover gel. Later had them powder
coated a nice 'school bus' yellow.

RE: Stripping rims - Polished Aluminum

can't describe the process but can issue caution as a victim of it. If you live in a northern climate and ride an 'extended' season, reconsider.
The PO of my 98 stripped the rims and they looked beautiful... In Florida. After only a single season here in NY they quickly began looking like crap regardless of what I did to keep them clean. I believe clearcoating them would have been the right decision had I thought of it before the damage was done.

RE: Stripping rims - Polished Aluminum

Stripped Rims :

Simply get a can of aircraft paint stripper from the local hardware store, using a chemical brush apply liberally on all surfaces. Wait 5-10 minutes and rinse off with water.

Ride and enjoy. I have been happy with mine for the last nine years and 100K miles.

Maintenance: moisten a rag with WD 40 and wipe once weekly TaDa.
