Paul,

Check around the 30A main fuse / starter relay. It sounds like corrossion /
heating / melting is happening again.

The big clue is the "slight pop (under the seat)", as I think I heard the
same thing didn't pay too much attention but did smell some hot PVC........

"Some juice as the clock comes back on" sounds just like what happened to
mine as I was surprised to see 1:00AM.
