While I've got the carbs off...
My 91 sat for a long while. After I moved, I took her out and cleaned
her up a little, but couldnt get her to run w/o the choke on. I removed the mouse nest from the airbox, put clean fuel with techron in it and still no go. I pulled the carbs, found clogged jets and cleaned them out thoroughly. Still runs, but not w/o choke. I found that the front right cylinder is not firing. I tested the fuel pump, and for spark to the cylinder. All good. The carb bowl has fuel in it. Last night I pulled the carbs off again to see if maybe something was clogged again. Forgive me for not knowing the names of all the parts, but I pulled out the 2 brass jets and they look clean. I pulled the floats and the little rubber topped pin thing: clean. I pulled out the main pin thing with the rubber skirt on it and sprayed carb cleaner thru everything That looked hollow. Before I put all this back together, and have that cylinder still not firing, is there anything else I should check on? Are there any more important pieces that would cause this behavior that I'm overlooking? This cooler weather has me really anxious to get out there again. TIA, -Jason _______________________________________________ vfr mailing list vfr@xxxxxx For subscription and delivery options: https://lists.cs.wisc.edu/mailman/listinfo/vfr |

Hi Jason, I'm going to guess that when it runs, it's sluggish and sounds a bit like a sick Triumph Triple (or a sick aeroplane engine : ) Has the carb for RH front cylinder had the top plastic cap removed for any reason? If so the vacuum adjustment for that carb will be way out, and will cause the bike to seem to be running on three cylinders. Suggest a full carb vacuum sync, this will probably sort the issue out if there's spark and fuel to the RH front cylinder.
