Re: Master Link Discussion...
A word of caution. I replaced my chain on my VFR and used a master link. I had thought this was adequate since it had always worked in the past. After a few weeks of riding, an inspection of the chain reviled the spring clip had slid off one of the posts. I did have the open section of the spring properly oriented facing opposite the direction of travel. I decided from then on to "rivet" the master link. I still do a check on the link anyway. For anyone that has ever thrown a chain, this is a worth the price insurance. I was a passenger on a bike that did break the chain (master link didn't break); wrapped on the frame just next to my foot, had to clean my underwear after that experience
