Update: Sargent seat owner opinions

A belated big thanks to all who responded either on list or directly to
my post back in early July regarding the Sargent seat. I finally got
around to springing for it in early Sept., but wasn't able to get a good
"feel" (pun intended) for it until three weeks ago when I took a little
eight day riding vacation up to Hartford, Ct. for a convention. Then
spent four mostly wet days touring around NH. I took Vic's
recommendation and bought it from Howard at SportTour.com
. Great buying experience, I've since done other buys
from them as well! When I bought the bike used in Oct. 2000, it came
with a Corbin seat (no factory unit to
compare) which I thought was the cat's meow, at least compared to the
stock seat I had on the SV650 for a year as a re-entry rider. The Corbin
however fit quite loose and moved around a bit, even after having a few
shops try to adjust it. One downside of this was that the forward side
extensions of the seat wore away at the paint on the gas tank over the
next year! Another downside (or upside, I don't know which) was that I
discovered my bike was originally red and had been repainted! And yes
for those who are wondering, I was looking for a pearl yellow bike, and
no, I didn't know it was not a '99 color - I didn't join the list 'till
spring of '01 (oh well, caveat emptor). In any event, I had read
postings over the years regarding people's complaints about Corbin, but
did not want a repeat experience insofar as fit if I bought a new seat.
Push came to shove last summer when I embarked on a twelve day vacation
from northern NJ to Oshkosh, WI and back thru Canada and Niagara Falls.
I'm 5'9" and 220 lbs. and my ass hurt after that trip (I had only done 2
or 3 day rides up 'till then). WHAT A DIFFERENCE with the Sargent, both
in terms of fit and comfort! I cannot say enough good things about
either the seat or SportTour.com.

Again, my bike and my 220 lb. fat ass thanks you. :-D

I bow to the WOTL.

Mike in NJ with "99 flavor.
