Coolant Flush Adventure

Managing to turn a 15 minute job into about a 5 "dayer". I have taken the
fairing of the bike. In doing so, I somehow managed to break off a tube
which flows from the bottom of the overflow tank up to the fairing. It's the
piece that connects into the fairing somewhere that is broken.I cannot see
where it connects? Any ideas ?
Thanks.
Mike

Does it connect to the radiator, right underneath the cap? There
should be an overflow/breather tube on your overflow tank, up near
the top, and a hose from the radiator fill neck to the overflow tank,
near the bottom.

Johnj

I don't think that a replacement of the radiator is necessary at this
point, unless the spigot on the radiator has broken off. If the
rubber hose simply came off its spigot, then splurge on a section of
new hose and re-attach it. I believe it uses one of those spring-
clamps to hold it on, but it's dark and I don't feel like going out
to the garage to check just at the moment.

If the spigot _has_ broken off, you might call up a radiator shop and
ask if a repair is feasible. A new radiator from Honda will be
_quite_ expensive, and a used unit will likely be difficult to find,
so repair strikes me as a good option in this case.

later,
Johnj

Re: Coolant Flush Adventure

Have left and right radiators for the 98-01 VFR.
Work fine but a few "imperfections". Cheap.
