Re: GP WORLD CHAMPION AGOSTINI (NVFRC)

It will be great to be there to see AGO receive a fitting tribute. I've been to the Concourse de Elegance at Pebble beach (old cars) and it's a very nice event. I truly appreciate the art form in old cars and bikes. I think it's good to see where we came from in motorcycling to fully appreciate where we are, and to ponder where we may be headed in the future. Like Peter Egan, I've spent countless hours just looking at my old bikes and admiring the shapes, surfaces, and textures. A show like this will offer a great chance to admire these old bikes and appreciate the work of those that restore and maintain them. >From the pictures on their website, the event doesn't appear to be well attended...not anything near the Pebble Beach car event. I will plan on being an additional body in attendance, after all, this will only be the 3rd year for the show. It doesn't seem like it is very well promoted. I haven't seen a single word about it in Cycle World or Cycle News. I'm currently restoring my old BSA 441 Victor (bought in 1970)from the ground up, and believe me, it's a TON of work and man hours. Even with all my work, it will not be Concourse condition, but it will still look great and run better than new when I'm done. It's a kind of hybrid 'resto-mod' with some changes that suit my taste, and not totally true to the original. I'm planning on taking it to Cannery Row in Monterey during the MotoGP Sat. Nite bike gathering down there. The BSA hasn't run in 29 years, so it will be fun for me to ride her again! If it's running by May I might try to ride it to Half-Moon Bay too.
