It sounds like you've got a sticky float that is allowing fuel to overflow the fuel bowl. All carburetors have overflow hoses, and if the bowl overfills, it goes out the overflow and all over the place. Since you've got the fuel tank off, I'd start by draining all the fuel from your carbs, and filling them with a carburetor cleaner (SeaFoam makes one, Yamaha's product is well-liked, Berryman's B-12 Chemtool comes up as a useful product as well). Let that sit for 20-30 minutes, then drain it all out. Replace the fuel tank and see if things work as they should. If they don't, you can either try it one more time, or just take apart each carburetor (one at a time, to avoid mixing parts!), and clean off the float-operated needle valve and seat (e.g. with a small, soft probe soaked in carb cleaner). You may want a magnifying glass available to look for small bits of varnish after you're finished. Any debris on the valve or seat will cause your carb to overflow. HTH! Oh yeah. fwiw, the carb hose routing info is on p. 6-14 of my manual (covers 90-96). Hose #3 (49-state) or #6/10(CA emissions) appear to be the likely candidates for dribbling fuel all over the place. _______________________________________________ vfr mailing list vfr@xxxxxx For subscription and delivery options: https://lists.cs.wisc.edu/mailman/listinfo/vfr |
