VFR friendly shop in Jersey

Hi gang,

I live in New Jersey, about 15 miles west of NYC (West Orange). I've
been riding my '99 VFR year round but I'd like to have a shop give it
the once over before I start riding in earnest this spring.

I'm looking for someone to do the following:

- full service (valves and the whole magilla)
- steering head bearings (they are getting clicky)
- brake pads
- SS brake lines (nothing wrong with my lines currently but they're
coming on 10 years old and I'd like to do some preventative
maintanence).

I've got two shops fairly nearby - Motorcycle Mall in Belleville and
the Honda shop in Metuchen. I've only ever had tires done at MM, and I
haven't had an issue with their work, but I'd like to see if there's a
personal recommendation of any other shop that might be more VFR
friendly or knowledgeable. I'm willing to travel a bit for a good shop.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks-

- Marc

Re: VFR friendly shop in Jersey

Marc:

I'm just down the road from you in North Elizabeth. I can highly
recommend JDS Cycles in Roselle Park www.jdscycle.com. Joe and Diane
Santos run a nice shop with a mom and pop atmosphere, great people. He's
a former drag racer and is a Power Commander Tuning Center with a dyno
and exhaust gas analyzer. Been using them for five or six years now. I
used to use Pompton Honda as a dealer 'cause it was close to previous
employment; their former service manager is now service manager at
Motorcycle Mall. Very nice guy, ran a competent shop, I have no doubt he
does so at MM as well. Just too far out of my way for my liking. I've
also tried other independent shops, keep coming back to JDS.

No relation
No affiliation - yadda yadda yadda
YMSMMV (your motorcycle shop mileage may vary)
