Parts, Parts, Parts

Hi all, I have been looking around on-line for what some of the stuff that I am looking for to change on my '03 Viffer. I would like to go down a tooth on the front sprocket, and so far the only parts that I can find for sprocket and chain kits are OEM replacement. I would like to get a 15 tooth front sprocket, and chaing to match. I don't know if there is a replacement kit for both sprockets and the chain, but if so, I wouldn't mind doing that. Does anyone know if there is a replacement airbox and filter setup for the Viffer too? I have seen them on other bikes and such (open air, no airbox), but I can't seem to find them for the VFR. Also, how many of you have decided to take off your centerstand? I have thought about it, but I am a bit leary of doing it. I really like having it for when I want to work on it, but I have also thought about having a set of stands for the front and rear, especially when I want to work on it, and store my baby for the winter. I know at one
time, there was a stand you could get for a VFR that fit in the hole in the swingarm. Anyone know where I could get one of those? Thanks in advance, Jeff

RE: Parts, Parts, Parts

Unless you intend to convert your VFR to a track bike, I would not remove
the center stand.

If you have a flat on the rear, your bike will fall over unless you put it
on the c.s. Without a
center stand, you will need a special bike stand to remove and change the
rear tire since
the bike has a single sided swing arm.

YMMV - It's your bike.

RE: [VtecVFROwners] Parts, Parts, Parts

http://www.sprocketspecialists.com/ProductSearch2.aspx

Select Honda in the drop down box. Then look for the VFR.

You will want a steel sprocket for the front (due to the size of the
sprocket and that it isn't sprung mass). It will show you that 17 is the
standard size. The column to the left of it will tell you the range they
are available. When you order just specify 16 teeth.

Also unless you need to change your chain out going down one tooth in the
front does not require a new chain. Now if you go up 3 teeth in the rear
(like I did) you will need a new chain. :) 2 teeth is fine, 3 too much.

Why would you want to take off the centerstand? Are you constantly dragging
it? If so then I would spend the money on suspension upgrades instead of
motorcycle stands. Ok ok...motorcycle stands are cheaper. :)

-Chris
