Suspension mods experience?
" Anyone beefed up their suspension (1997 VFR750F)? Seems brakes and
suspension are the weakest areas on my VFR. May be that I'm just used to full-on race setups, but my brakes were very anemic and the suspension seems to be barely adequate. After changing out the front with steel lines, HBC HH pads, and AP600 fluid the brakes are acceptable now...would still like more, but I can't find a SuperHawk front end to swap out. I hear that's the real cure for the brakes. I have an Ohlins rear on my old FZR and love it....but, damn, they're pricey. Any suggestions? Racetech valves and spings for the front? What about FOX for the rear? -Mac" Race tech and Ohlins? I have been lurking for too long. Traxxion Dynamics is the place many VFR listers went at one time. I have CBR600F3 fork internals (adjustable) in my '91's fork with springs and dampening from Traxxion. I also got a Penske while I was at it. Much better! there should be a ton on this subject in the archives. As far as brakes, I upgraded my master cylinders, to Nissin racing ones and put SS lines on too. I got the master sylinders for a steal and don't know how the guys back in San Diego gave me such a good price. I think these I have now are 14mm, which is the same as the Super Hawk. Way cheaper than a whole new front end. I am pretty sure the Brakes and suspension are the same between the our 2 bikes. This upgrade was awesome. I have plenty of braking power, and it even made me mildly famous among some of the fellow VFR riders in ME and NH. Here's a link to photo's of all my mods I've done over the years. Might be of help/interest. http://www.flickr.com/photos/jazclri...7602747149066/ Hope it helps, Rich _______________________________________________ vfr mailing list vfr@xxxxxx For subscription and delivery options: https://lists.cs.wisc.edu/mailman/listinfo/vfr |
