Waterproof gloves?
The monsoon rains riding to COTU quickly overwhelmed my "waterproof"
overgloves. So now I am on a mission to find truely waterproof riding gloves.. Any suggestions? Chuck Snyder _______________________________________________ vfr mailing list vfr@xxxxxx For subscription and delivery options: https://lists.cs.wisc.edu/mailman/listinfo/vfr |

Probably no real good such thing as a totally waterproof glove. ' I use Held outlast / Goretex lined fabric / leather 3 season gloves which are OK, but will waterlog after hours in the rain. Like my Gerbings classics (also supposedly waterproof), the goretex will stop the water coming through, but the gloves get clammy inside and absorb a lot of water. My system now is waterproof gloves inside my IXS jacket cuffs (because the jacket will shed water into the glove via the internal Goretex liner when it saturates after a few hours of rain). For heavy / long rain rides, I then have a Goretex rain shell over the IXS riding jacket, and Aerostich triple digit rain covers cinched down tight over the waterproof gloves. This has mostly worked well, except for a 9 hour ride back in the aftermath of one of the hurricanes a few years back, when it seemed that water came through the Stich glove seems. Unfortunately, the Stich glove covrs can get somewhat slippery on the grips, and also a bit restrictive. Some use neoprene diving gloves, but that doesn't provide any road-rash protection. Probably I'll go back to race / leather gloves treated with Nikwax or whatever and the triple digits over those, should provide a reasonable compromise except in cold weather, plus much better feel. _______________________________________________ vfr mailing list vfr@xxxxxx For subscription and delivery options: https://lists.cs.wisc.edu/mailman/listinfo/vfr |
