New Owner, Looking for Luggage
I just purchased a 2007 ABS model (new). I ordered a set of the OEM luggage
from the dealer and a week later they told me the luggage is on back order with no indication of when it might be available. Does anyone know of any alternate sources for the luggage? --- Craig Wagner Portland, OR "Be civil to all; sociable to many; familiar with few; friend to one; enemy to none." _______________________________________________ vfr mailing list vfr@xxxxxx For subscription and delivery options: https://lists.cs.wisc.edu/mailman/listinfo/vfr |

RE: New Owner, Looking for Luggage
Givi makes the factory luggage for Honda. I have the factory set and the
keys are Givi. I talked to the Givi rep at Bike week and they make a lot of the "factory" bags for manufacturers. I would start with them. http://www.giviusa.com/ Cheers, Sean T Murphy 2003 VFR800A - 30,000+ miles Orlando, FL http://www.SeanTMurphy.com/VFR The Dragon, The Wolf, and The Cherohala Skyway: Check "Try to learn something about everything and everything about something." -- T. RE: New Owner, Looking for Luggage
Yeah, I knew that. I was hoping to get the color-matched stuff. But for the
price difference (Givi = $660, Honda = $835) I can probably get the Givi stuff painted if I find it's that big a deal to me. > -----Original Message----- > From: Sean [mailto:VFR@xxxxxx] > Sent: Saturday, June 07, 2008 12:48 PM > To: 'Craig Wagner'; vfr@xxxxxx > Subject: RE: New Owner, Looking for Luggage > > Givi makes the factory luggage for Honda. Re: New Owner, Looking for Luggage
The Givi stuff is not just not color matched. The bags are rather
universal and the mounts are bike specific. I find the Honda luggage to be decent looking on the bike and (apologies to all you Givi owners) the Givi stuff looks like an erector set bolted to a portable typewriter case. I think the Honda bags were worth it for style alone. Bob Craig Wagner wrote: > Yeah, I knew that. I was hoping to get the color-matched stuff. RE: New Owner, Looking for Luggage
I think you may need to update your info on what Givi has available. Have
you looked at the new V35 bags? They are not significantly different than the OEM luggage. Most people when they think of the Givi stuff think of the older style, where the bracket is in a single plane and the bags (which are huge) bolt onto the side of it. I agree with the assessment with that style. The V35 bags and PLX166 rack tuck in under the exhaust, just like the OEM stuff. The only difference I've seen is the logo, the placement of the reflector, and the way the back tapers. Take a look at these pictures (VFR w/V35s and PLX166): opinions on Givi luggage post46391 http://www.twistedthrottle.com/image...RefererURL=/tr ade/productview/2807/69/ Compared to these pictures (OEM Luggage): opinions on Givi luggage post62543 http://vfrworld.com/photos/showphoto.php/photo/1104 > -----Original Message----- > From: vfr-bounces@xxxxxx [mailto:vfr-bounces@xxxxxx] On > Behalf Of Bob Wortman > Sent: Saturday, June 07, 2008 2:55 PM > Cc: vfr@xxxxxx > Subject: Re: New Owner, Looking for Luggage > > The Givi stuff is not just not color matched.
