VFR 2008 MPG correction: 47
I recently did a 150 mile trip on the VFR 2008 and kept a careful eye on
the amount of gas (95 octane) I used. It averaged to 5 liters per 100 kilometers, which beats any car that I own - including the krappy Yaris 1000cc. I believe it translates as 47 MPG. Woot! way to go VFR!! :) -turgut _______________________________________________ vfr mailing list vfr@xxxxxx For subscription and delivery options: https://lists.cs.wisc.edu/mailman/listinfo/vfr |

I forget where you're located (apparently not USA), but is your octane
measured differently, or does the VTEC's recommend/require premium gasoline. My 5th gen runs just fine on 87 octane. I can easily obtain 47 mpg, if I can convince myself to take it a little easier than my typical riding style (about 44 mpg). RE: VFR 2008 MPG correction: 47
I'm getting 47-48 mpg with my '04 on regular grade gasoline.

The US spec VTECs only call for a pump octane of 87.

RE: VFR 2008 MPG correction: 47
In the US we rate our gasoline by (RON + MON)/2 (Research and Rotor Octane
Number, respectively). Motor octane is typically 8-10 ratings lower than RON (per the Wiki, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating). Many countries advertise the RON number, which is likely the case here. Also remember that location will also determine what the octane number will be. I'm sure in hot countries the number will be higher due to need. During my trip to Colorado some time ago, I think all that was available was something like 83 and 87 octane up in the mountains due to the lower air density.
