97 VFR Tank Rubber Cushions

I am in the process of refreshing/refurbishing my '97 VFR750 and right now I am replacing the fuel tank vent and overflow lines as well as replacing the double stick tape the previous owner put on the frame where the rubber bumpers go.

The question I have is the microfiche show two parts on each side. There is the normal rubber block that I am familiar with but, the fiche also shows a small rectangular sheet of rubber with glue on both sides. Where does that other piece go? The fiche show it as somehow going on with the rubber bumper.

Here is a link to the fuel tank fiche at Ron Ayers which shows the parts. #16 is the rubber bumper I am familiar with #16 is the part I am not sure how to install.

http://www.ronayers.com/fiche/200_02...tank_94-97.cfm

Thanks in advance for any help you all might be able to offer. If anyone happens to have a pic of the bottom of a 94-97 VFR fuel tank with these parts installed I would really appreciate it!

Bob

Re: RE: 97 VFR Tank Rubber Cushions

Sorry about thqt. Look at the link, #16 is the rubber bumper that is shaped like a block with slits in it that slide onto the lip of the tank. I know where that goes. I am having a time figuring out where #23 from the link goes. From the fiche it goes with the bumper and I am assuming that somehow it attaches to #16 and gives additional support to the bumper as it has adhesive on both sides of it.

Thanks

Bob

RE: RE: 97 VFR Tank Rubber Cushions

I believe the rubber sheet goes into the slot of the rubber bumper and glues
the bumper to the tank. The bumper's slot is wider than the thickness of
the metal at that location. Otherwise the bumpers would fall out and slide
around.

Good luck.

Carl
