RE: looking at a 1998
*
Rob, Dec 2005*I bought a 1999 to replace my '96.** I bought it stock, with 10K miles on it. I got a deal, but I got it for $4,000.* I wouldn't say it's vibey on idle..* Now at $35K the rear shock is pretty much toast... * Not a bad deal if the bike is very clean...$4K would be a better deal. * Matt Roth * Rob Wrote: Saturday, August 9, 2008 8:39 PM From: "Rob Bandler" To: "VFR list" Test rode a 1998 today.* Belongs to a guy I have done track days with.* Rode it for about 20 miles... 33k miles,* very clean, well cared for* as far as oil changes, suspension, paint, etc.***Forks upgraded with springs and emulators. Rear shock stock but felt good. He is hoping for $4500 and I was hoping to pay $4000.* * Still trying to work out a deal. What is the WOTL? _______________________________________________ vfr mailing list vfr@xxxxxx For subscription and delivery options: https://lists.cs.wisc.edu/mailman/listinfo/vfr |

RE: looking at a 1998
The forks on a 98 doesn't need cartridge emulators, they're already cartridge forks from the factory. At 33K miles, the stock will need to be rebuilt, or replaced.

Re: looking at a 1998
I know what YOU meant. It's bizarre the way people still talk about
"emulators", a Race-Tech specific reference to a product that was only ever applicable to pre-1990 Hondas (okay, and dino-bikes like the SV650...) RE: looking at a 1998
Guess that was inaccurate speech on my part. Ohlins valving and Race
Tech springs is what I should have said. Both ends felt very good on the test ride. I think it needs a TB sync, but other than that, seems VERY good. VERY clean. :-) Rob http://motopumps.com 08 FJR 1300 A 07 DL650 VStrom 07 GSXR600 05 HD Road Glide 01 Bandit 600s 97 HD Sportster At 10:45 AM -0700 8/12/08, Rudy Fierros wrote: > The forks on a 98 doesn't need cartridge emulators, they're >already cartridge forks from the factory.
