Shock replacement for touring setup?

Trey,
*
Let someone like Traxxion Dynamics do the math for you.* Also, you can get a relatively inexpensive replacement from them...you don't need a full blown adjustable shock (three-way Ohlins or Penske may be overkill)...
*
Try the Penske Sport Shock...it's cheaper than the two-way or three way (should only cost around $500 instead of $1K!).
*
Weigh yourself, gear add in the weight of your Givi's etc...and give the data to Max at Traxxion and they'll calculate the setup and valving for you....

No affiliation with traxxion, there are other vendors who can do this for you as well with a Penske or other shock.
*
Don't try to bastardize a shock for the VFR from another bike...you're running up the wrong tree.
*
I'm sure other listeners can share there experience with the Sport Shock...

I don't know what to do about the rear shock. I'm pretty sure my rear is a goner
*
I know there's a couple of options available for getting a better sport ride, but are these also good options for a touring setup?
*
I don't want to end up raising the rear ride much if at all, but I do plan to add Givi hard bags to the setup for touring.
*
Here what I know about so far from googling:

Penske/Ohlins - cost 1K$!!!
OEM 929 shock - cheap, but requires modding the top mount?
??? - is there some other stock OEM shock off of, like a ST1100 or PC800 for example that would work?

Is there someplace I can look up shock specs to determine what would work?
