04 VFR, ABS problems

My main ABS fuse has blown twice in the past 1500 miles or so. That may or may not be related.

On Sunday, I bled my brakes and changed my pads. I used a mityvac and was careful never to let either of the reservoirs run dry.

Yesterday morning on my way to work.. brakes feel rock solid and way better than before. Coming to the third stoplight on my commute, it felt like I hit a pebble - and my ABS light starts blinking.

I get home yesterday evening and read code 10 - front modulator unit. I reset the codes... and upon turning the key back on, the front modulator solenoid makes a "thwump!" sound and the ABS light starts blinking again. Still code 10.

I'm pretty confident that there isn't air in the lines...and even if there were a bit of air in there, I don't see how this would make the modulator fail its power on self test immediately.

Not being 100% confident it is the front modulator (and the fact that replacing it requires draining the entire brake system) I'm about ready to take the bike to a dealership.

Anyone else have any troubleshooting ideas?

Thanks!
-Kris
