even a helmet couldn't help
Tragic ... be careful out there!!
12:28 PM CDT on Saturday, August 30, 2008 By Sara Foley / The Daily News LEAGUE CITY, TX — A man died Friday morning when a piece of a blown tire from an 18-wheeler knocked him off his motorcycle in traffic. James McCann, 35, of League City, died at the scene of the accident, which happened at 6:15 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 45. The tire was on the pavement and flew up in the air when a car hit it, League City police spokesman Sgt. John Jordan said. The flying piece of the tire hit McCann’s head and knocked him off his 2005 Suzuki GSXR 600 motorcycle, Jordan said. The car behind McCann swerved to miss him, but a truck hit McCann and dragged him for about 200 yards, Jordan said.
