Re: Tubes in tubeless tires

Listers,
AFAIK the major reason that tubes aren't to be used in tubeless radial
tires is the shape of the rim. The rim is designed to capture the bead,
and the air pressure forms the seal. This locks the tire in place.
A tube probably will not create enough pressure to lock the tire in place
for a sufficient fit.
Having said that, I have successfully run tubeless tires with tubes in
bias ply design on wheels designed for bias ply tires.
In any case, except as a very short term solution, I would not get into
the use of tubes in my tubeless radial tire.
