electrical woes

Kris, Warren,

I'm right there with you, I started losing R/Rs about 2 1/2 months ago.
Old unit (not certain if it was original) showed grounding problems while
everything else tested good.
Put an OEM in without any real connector cleaning and it lasted about
2 months before frying at the end of a long, twisty ride. (at least it waited
'till I had my fun!)
Then I cleaned come connectors, cleaned up a few ground points, and
got a new R/R from ElectroSport. Installing it I remember hearing
a "cracking" noise when I bolted it on, -bad sign I guess(?), but everything still
tested fine. During the warm-up ride it blew up. Again, after the meltdown I measured
resistance at the yellow wires to ground(?), while the Stator side of the wiring harness tested
fine.
ElectroSport is very good about warranty, they gave me a return # no questions asked.
Right away the customer support guy said, "probably a bad R/R" -as if he had expected it!
Well, he was, after all, aware that it was a Honda . . . .

I'm considering a fan and Bruce Wilson's advice to rewire.

Should I take my battery back to the shop for another 'load test' before installing the next R/R?
-it was down to about 11.8v when I got back from the warm-up.

Waiting for a package from ElectroSport,
-Joseph
