Fuel Economy Question

OK - new to me 1999 VFR800 FI with 23k. Fuel economy running right about 40
mpg and I am not heavy on the throttle - still adapting to this bike.
Anything wrong with this pic? Seems to me I have seen lots of comments of
fuel economy more around 50 than 40...

Also - idle runs about 1500 rpm with no choke. Any connection to the fuel
mpg?

TIA!

Stay vertical...

I get about 42mpg on my '00, with 17k miles.

Should be 1250 rpm when warm IIRC. Also, I don't think there is a
manual choke on the '99, there isn't on the '00. Until my bike is warm
it high idles at ~1500, all done by the ECU, no manual choke.
