RE: Magazines / Falling off a bike / Ojai VTEC riders
Greetings --
The publisher of BIKE also publishes CAR, which is v. good. Focus is on fast cars, and expensive cars. (U.S. version is Automobile, I think.) On the previous topic of falling off a bike: local VFR rider fell asleep and off his bike at 70 mph(?) while on the "Three Flags" trip a few years ago. He apparently was dehydrated. Lived to tell the tale and finish the trip (as pillion). Also, it's not too late for an Ojai Calif. VTEC rider to pick up $20.00 for a couple minute's "work." I'm taking my Bill Mayer saddle (http://billmayersaddles.com/october25homepage.html) in for re-adjustment, and would prefer to have Bill see me on the saddle on the bike before he marks it up. Appointment scheduled for the morning of Monday July 10. -- Michael -----Original Message----- From: vfr-bounces@xxxxxx [mailto:vfr-bounces@xxxxxx] On Behalf Of John Johnson Sent: Tuesday, June 27, 2006 5:25 PM To: vfr list Subject: Re: Magazines On 27 Jun, 2006, at 18:37, Jeff Fitzsimons wrote: > On 6/27/06, Michael Hightower (ebay) >> Now that I'm starting to get settled in, I'm dealing with my magazine >> subscriptions, and it stuck me that I should probably get a >> motorcycle magazine. Subscriptions are kinda' expensive ($65/year in the US, through their distributor. I can get info if people want), but I'm consistently happy with the content and the writing. I'll probably pick up a subscription to MCN (note that there's a UK mag with the same name, but it's not the same thing) eventually. The publisher of BIKE also publishes Ride, and a new mag, pB (project bike). If you're into projects, PB may interest you. Ride is similar in many respects to consumer reports for motorcycles, but its utility is strongly diminished here because many of the products that they review aren't available. I've heard that the german-language Motorrad is another good magazine, but I haven't found the energy to track down a copy to find out. Brushing up on my German would never be more fun, though! ;-) later, Johnj _______________________________________________ Vfr mailing list Vfr@xxxxxx For subscription and delivery options: https://lists.cs.wisc.edu/mailman/listinfo/vfr _______________________________________________ Vfr mailing list Vfr@xxxxxx For subscription and delivery options: https://lists.cs.wisc.edu/mailman/listinfo/vfr |
