RE: NVFRC - this list, its content and Chris Burgess
You know, I'm starting to lose my patience here.
All this denegrating of Chris Burgess who is so misunderstood, and clearly now that Mike 'Oil Guy' is gone, Chris is the most prolific, erudite, informed and important poster on our list. I mean, I receive the list in digest mode and typically 30% of the posts originate from the intellectually-rigorous mind of Chris Burgess. If I skipped over each of his emails I would feel insecure in my daily life knowing I missed so much. Now I know that many of you listers receiving posts in non-digest mode simply block emails from Chris. But you don't what juicy and riveting content you're missing. Without Chris's posts, you are simply malnourished for vital information that could meaningfully transform your life more than, say, a thirty-minute infomercial. I think we all just to need to come together as a list, hold hands with Chris, give him some warm fuzzies, sing kumbaya with him and embrace all his content, vfr-focused or not. He is, after all, the most important poster to this list. Now, geez, give this raconteur extraordinaire his oratorical space. He needs to be heard and you need to hear him. Pap Unable to contemplate life on the list without Chris Burgess. - - - From: vfr-bounces@xxxxxx [mailto:vfr-bounces@xxxxxx] On Behalf Of Dan Barufaldi Sent: Friday, July 21, 2006 3:24 PM To: Chris Burgess Cc: Sullivan,John; VFR List Subject: NVFRC - this list, its content If this were a democracy, I might buy the "the list is what the people want it to be" argument. But the majority doesn't rule, nor does the minority. Only one mod on this list, and he has stated several times what the list is about. Unfortunately (and understandably), he can't remove all the off-subject material - it's just not an effective use of his time for this volunteer endeavor. So, short of drowning out the "noise" on the list with VFR content, there really isn't anything any group can do about people who post that which is not appropriate (notice I said post - I'm not talking about filtering after the fact). You're not the majority, Chris, you are just one of those who doesn't feel bound by the guidelines of the list, and there's no one around to police you.
