Raleigh, NC area VFR riders

I just purchased my 1st VFR, a 1995 with 25K miles.

I will be flying to Raleigh next Wednesday to get it and ride it back to Pittsburgh, Pa. a trip of about 500 miles.
I have my concerns about the stock bars on my 60 yr old shoulder and back muscles. I'm worndering if there is a VFR rider in the Raleigh vicinity who might lend me a set of Helibars that would fit the 95 VFR.... to complete the trip and which would be Fed Ex'd back to you upon my arrival in Pittsburgh on Saturday, next week.

If there is a fellow "traveller" who is willing to assist this 60 yr old determined rider get his VFR back to Pittsburgh, I would be extremely grateful for the courtesy extended.

I once met a BMW rider, a complete stranger, in my younger days, and saw him do something quite remarkable.

I had a crash on a wet streets of Cape Girardo Missouri while pulling a camping trailer. The trailer unloaded the rear tire in the rain as I tried to avoid hitting the riders immediately in front of me. They had missed a turn and slammed on their brakes. The rain would not permit me the grace of stopping so I aimed the downed, flailing BMW out of their path. The valve cover broke open on the resulting impact on the concrete meridian strip before completely flipping over to the other side of the highway. A patch on the side of the valve cover was futile. It poured oil out like crazy. I nevertheless made it up to Mount Vernon, Illinois and stopped at a service station. A young man there spied the predicament and offered to help.

He said I have my BMW down for some repairs and I live close. I'll be right back. He brought back his own BMW valve cover and told me to install it in place of the damaged one. He said: when you get back home to Indianapolis, mail it to me. TRUE story!
It was a tragic event which teaches you that you can never know what will come up and you learn the meaning of the question:
In whom do you put your trust?

That was a special person and a special moment that you never can count on but which you are immensely relieved to know such people exist. I immediately sent his valve cover back the next day with a letter of appreciation.

Thanks in advance,
Ed in Pittsburgh, the tomato man

No Helibars, but here's a comfort mod that can be done quick and dirty:

Any well-placed padding under a tank cover is a _huge_ comfort unless
you're very tall/long-armed..

HTH,
